without Tek I think the sox' pitching will suffer, especially all the young and inexperienced arms. Now with Javy Lopez and Mirabelli playing everyday the offensive production out of his spot in the line up will be just about the same if not better. Tek hasn't exactly been killing the ball this year. The team will also miss his all around leadership. He doesn't rock that "C" on his jersey for nothing. It was tek who sparked their run to the world series in 2004 when he brawled with A-fraud. As far as how long he'll be out is tough to say. It was ligament in his knee and he squats for a living so that doesn't help. If he is healthy enough to even play every other day Tek is a gamer and he'll tough it through to be with his team by the playoffs.

Even though I am a Yankees fan I think the Red Sox will do well. That is what makes a team good; they persevere even when key players are injured. The Yankees lost Matsui and Sheffield yet they are still playing hard. Therefore I think the other players will play harder to make up for the holes. They still have David Ortiz and their pitching isn't too bad with Curt Schilling.
I didn't know Varitek got injured but I guess it all depends on how fast he heals and whether or not he decides to come back and play hurt.
ps. As much as I love the Yankees, the only reason I will not be rude is because my sister lives in Boston.

1. The Yankees are on fire right now. Red Sox Nation is in trouble. Tek and Trot are injured at the worst time possible.
2. No. It's a major surgery. I would say 8 weeks.

They won't do so well because Trot and Varitek are 2 of their key players. I don't think they will be fine. I heard that Varitek is supposed to be out for 1 month. This is coming from a Yankee fan. Poor, poor Red Sox.....(not!)

They will fare well without Trot Nixon who has been in a slump of late. Pena will fill in for him nicely, and he is a better hitter. As for Veritek, they will miss him, especially because he knows the pitchers so well. However, the Sox acquired Lopez from the Orioles, so they now have an experienced, all-star catcher behind the plate who can catch AND hit. My feelings are that the Sox will still be fine and will go on to win the division and World Series.
Go Sox!!!

I think this will affect the pitching staff more than it will the offense. I don't think anyone will be able to handle the staff better than him. Offensively, he hasn't been too spectacular this season. Picking up Lopez will more than replace Varitek's bat while he's hurt.
As for Trot, Pena and Kapler are adequate replacements in right, so I don't see his latest injury being much of a setback.

First of all, yankee fans are always rude when you ask a RED SOX FAN a question.
Yes, Varitek is out for weeks, but will be back in full stride when we will be in th playoff in October!! :-)
I have faith in them and do believe because they are still AWESOME!!

i exchange into born in long island and have been a pink Sox fan for 40 years(10-11-sixty seven) My coronary heart's been broken in the previous yet this could not be the year the place it occurs lower back. Our pitching and hitting are too stable for many communities. get waiting to relish some stable baseball!!!
