If you pronounce the word "accent" the way you spell it, "Excent" you'd do better in Australia!
Does your library have some tuition tapes for English.
Unless you come from Scotland, Ireland, Wales or Oop North, you just about have to speak with a cockney accent, it's de rigeur! It's a kind of inverted snobbery, just as bad as the other sort.

Believe it or not, you don't have to have a London accent to go to London. They let absolutely anybody in.
Besides, if my recent experiences of London are anything to go by, if you speak English you'll be in a minority.

No such accent as London accent as it varies right across the city. (North, South, East to West !)
Just stick to learning the óle English and you'll do fine !

Look, I live in london. You already know how to speak american english, if you want to learn a new language, learn spainish or persian. Persian is a lovely language. IT IS GREAT!

The Brits are terrific people. They can spot a phony accent anyway.
