If you are planning to apply to medical school than you should take science based courses in high school to start out with. I would recommend the following: Biology, Chemisty, Physics, Pre-calculas and Calculas. Or whatever variation of those basic courses your high school offers. If you can take an advanced level and feel you would do well in it, then I would recommend you do so.

Once you graduate high school you will need to complete a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) from any University. Most universities recommend that their science students have no less than an 80% average. The courses that you would be taking in university would vary by which subject you wish to major in, in other words what you want your main area of study to be.. Most universities offer Majors in the following subjects (among others): Biology, Chemisty, Physics, Mathematics, and Psychology. Once you choose a major, most universities will assign you to meet with someone to discuss which courses you are required to take in order to graduate. Graduation requirements will vary by university and degree. If you are still planning to go on to Medical School at this point I would recommend a degree in either Biology or Chemisty, although a Bachelor of Science in almost any field of study can give you entrance to Medical School.
It takes 4 years to complete a Bachelor of Science.

In order to enter into medical school you must have a very high GPA (Grade Point Average). At least a 3.0 on a scale of 0 - 4.0 is required, this would be equivilant to about a 90% average. You are also required to write and pass the MCAT, or Medical Collage Admission Test. The minimum score required will vary.

It takes four years to complete a Medical Degree. During which some of your time will be spent in the classroom and some at a Teaching Hospital. After you have completed medical school you must complete a residency. At this time you will focus on the type of medicine you wish to pursue, for example: family medicine, general surgery or gynecology. The length of time for a Residency varies from 2-7 years. At the end of your Residency you must write and pass an exam that will allow you to practice medicine legally.

It is very expensive to complete medical school. A four year Bachelor of Science can cost as little as $40, 000 to almost double that. (This is in Canada anyways). Medical school tuition would be even more expensive.

If you are looking for a straightforward website that can tell you all these facts and mroe, I would recommend this one:

The information is for Canada, but can probably be applied to any country.

If you are in high school try taking biology and math class's (yes there is math in medicine). If I'm not mistaking there is 3 - 4 years of book work in college. Then there is 3 - 4 years of internship. Which is working in a hospital or doctors office and getting hands on experience. If I were you I would go to your local college and find out what the requirements are to get into med school.

4 years of undergrad

4 years of med school

1 year intern

2 years resident

In HS, take a lot of physical sciences. Math classes, etc.

In the US, around $100-150K. You can also get sponsored if you agree to work as a public service doctor (you have to accept any station given no matter what your circumstances) or the military. (if combat is your thing)
