Hi. The plastic used in polarized sunglasses only allows light with waves in a certain orientation to pass through easily. Imagine a Venetian blind with really tiny blinds. Waves going in the direction of the spaces will pass through but waves perpendicular will not. (It's not quite this simple but it helps explain.) Windows could be made but they would be expensive compared to regular glass. Filters are made for astronomy and microscopy to only allow light with certain orientation to pass through.
