When you're taking a shortcut across town, your luxurious car broke down in the middle of nowhere and all you know is that you're in a bad neighborhood now (a ghetto with notorious gang activities). You know you maybe in great danger. Unfortuniately, you are alone, late at night 10:15pm. Worse yet, you are not a triple A club member (cause you didn't think you will need their service for your nearly brand new car.)
There will be another 50 min drive to go home.

Just when you're about to pick up your cell phone and call police for help. All of a sudden, there is one weird looking guy stopped his old truck, offering you a favor to drive you to the nearby garage for some emergency towing services....

How will you handle this situation?

I would say no thanks, I've got some help on the way, and then I would continue to call the police.

I would question my value system. Why am I alone at 10:15 an hour away from home? Why do I need to be afraid because of poverty? What kind of a$$hole drives an expensive car but doesn't get the options that cater to rich pricks such as satellite help? Who am I to judge someone because he looks different? Just because I've never thought of someone else selflessly, why do I think no one ever has?
The person in that situation has been put there for a growth experience. Maybe they have the possibility to change, maybe they will be changed against their will, either way it's just the rest of your life. That could be five minutes for any of us, so why be afraid?

I would just say I had already called for help. I wouldn't want to roll my window down though. Call for help! One time there was a waitress close to where I lived. She was at work and some guy came in. He was nice so she talked to him. On her way home, she had a flat. Well, this same guy pulled up and she was so greatful. Well, he raped and murdered her. They found out later he had put a nail under her tire so this would happen. Her cell phone was laying in the seat as though she were about to call someone. No matter what, always call for help.

I would tell him that I am fine right now but appreciate the help, and I would act like I am working on the car.

After he leaves, I would use the cell phone to call the emergency service number because emergency roadside assistance came with my car.

If I don't have road side service, just call the cops and wait by your car.

Seriously, you probably will be fine. Just be confident and don't make eye contact.

I would say I just called the police and they said they'd be here in a minute and I need to stay with the car. Then I'd call them after he left. If he didn't leave I'd call the police "back" and pretend Id already called them once before and I was checking on the status.

I would politely tell the man, No thank you, I have someone on the way, but thanks for offering. Then get back in my vehicle lock the doors, roll the windows up and make a call on the cellphone, one to a towing service or roadside assistance, and one to relatives/family to let them know where I am and what happened in case anything should happen to me they know where I was and things of that nature then wait for the tow-truck to arrive.

I had to do that once, though I was stranded on the side of the interstate all by my self and an older man stopped and said he would give me a ride to the next quick stop to use the phone. I had to go. I was there alone and no one knew that I was across the state line ... It was scary but i did it..

First off, why were you in such a place if you have this great car, maybe some reason you don't want to tell? And if you were going to call some one, why not call a tow truck yourself, you do have access to information.

IF YOU HAVE A CELL PHONE STAY IN YOUR VEHICLE AND CALL FOR ASSISTANCE DO NOT GO IN WITH STRANGERS!! YOUR INSTINCT TELLS YOU THE GUY IS WEIRD!! SO WHY GO! BLEND IN LIKE A ROUGH PERSON IF YOU ARE IN ROUGH NEIGHBOURHOOD! STAY AND BE VIGILANT!! BE ALERT AND LISTEN TO YOUR INSTINCT! LOOK FOR A HOUSE THAT CAN HELP YOU!! OR A STORE! DO NOT PANIC! LOOK FOR A SIGN THAT SAY NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH STICKER! KNOW YOUR LOCATION!

IN EVERY ROUGH SECTION OF CITY THERE ARE GOOD PEOPLE AROUND.. STAY CALM! if the guy really wanted to help you he will stick around and wont insist... if you find he is being forceful then he is a bad guy!! use your horn!!! YOU ARE BOUND YOU WAKE UP A CRANKY GUY AND HE MIGHT JUST HELP YOU GATHER UP HIS GANGS AND BURN YOU CAR!! SO RELAX...FIND A HOLE YOU CAN HIDE OUT FOR THE NIGHT!!

Yeah, shortcut. You are in the hood at that hour looking for drugs, and you got caught. Not even the police will come into that neighborhood at that hour. Prepare to be robbed.
