Let's say we all become disgusted with politics. What if no one vote at the next elections wherever they are held? Will it be legal for the current government to stay in power?

I hope Yahoo will not see this question as inciting vilence or hatred like it did to my previous question.

Older people will continue to vote. The young will pay the price.

If you look back in the 50's,60's and 70's people use to protest. Now people have no balls at all ! I write my senator and congress men and woman and voice my opinion all the time for change that benifits all not just myself ! People are always going to vote but the system now has to be changed so every vote counts !!!

If the situation you described above will happen (which is very unlikely to happen), then I imagine a very active Congress passing a bill extending the term of the current President Bush indefinitely until a new President is elected.

That is my opinion on the matter which honestly, I hate to see that actually happening in this country.

Well what you say just would NEVER happen. There are people who would NEVER miss voting and a low projected turnout makes that even more likely for them. What you SHOULD worry about is the HONESTY and INTEGRITY of the voting system, which is now being subverted by the Repubs.

I just don't ever see that happening. Someone would vote and that vote would be enough really.

And ideally, if you are really disgusted with politics, shouldn't you vote to change them?

I didn't vote this year, cause my council does nothing for me, all the people i asked had they voted, they all said no, so answering your question you never know one day it might come to that

The party activists would continue to vote, and they would vote themselves in.

Whooey! Who'd pay the government??
