Deffo dogs!

Cats by far! I have both, but defintely enjoy the complexities of a cat's personality much more than the simplicity of the dog. Plus, the dog is a lot more demanding; if you're not constantly paying attention to it, it's not really happy. Cats will play and cuddle and put themselves into the most amusing positions and plus if you have to leave for a weekend, they're able to fend for themselves for a few days. Dogs are fun to play with, but unless it's a small dog, they're hard to cuddle with & they just aren't as amusing as cats. I could go on & on as to why I prefer cats, but I'm sure you get the gist of my answer.

They both have there ups and downs, but dogs have better defense while a cat has much stronger senses. But what you need is a cat that thinks a dog like I used to have, he fought and alerted my dogs of coyotes and he would come to your rescue if you screamed. he killed snakes and fought with the skills of both a cat and a dog.

dogs are more loyal they love you no matter what but require alot of attention you cant go and leave the the dog at home inside all day
cats dont care if your there or not they only come around you when they want to but they are much easier to take care of you can be gone for days and they dont care

Dogs-definately. Cats may be a choice for many people because you don't have to take them for walks etc but with dogs you do. Dogs are also more exciting, you can do agility , flyball and obedience with them.

Better for what- herding sheep? pulling sleds? OK dogs hands down
Catching mice? Purring, just being calm and cool and not ripping your whole house apart because it has separation anxiety?
I think you want a cat.

Dogs are loyal companion animals. Cats are independant animals that mearly share your surroundings. So of course dogs rule!
