Tell him not to mess around with this. It could be as simple as a swollen gland, or as evil as a small cancer, but he should get it checked out asap...for his health and peace of mind. Lot of guys will wait until it is too late. My bet, it is a swollen gland and nothing to worry about, but he really needs to get in there and get it diagnosed, and make sure it is nothing serious. Good luck

No it would not be the weather. It is not a harsh or embarrassing question. Some people are afflicted with problems and others don't. Is the lump next to the testicle or is it in the testicle itself? I had an enlarged testicle a few years ago and I was so scared. I thought it was a tumor. My symptom was lower back pain and it would feel as if someone would repeatedly kick me in the balls. I went to my doctor and he ordered an ultrasound. It turned out to be a stone in one of the ducts and was making one of my testicles grow bigger. I had surgery, the stone was removed and everything turned out fine. Your Bf/husband should have it checked.

Because testicular cancer is curable when detected early, experts recommend regular monthly testicular self-examination after a hot shower, when the scrotum is looser. Men should examine each testicle, first feeling for lumps and then compare the testicles to each other together to see whether one is larger than the other.
Symptoms may include one or more of the following:
a lump in one testicle or a hardening of one of the testicles
pain and tenderness in the testicles
build-up of fluid in the scrotum
a dull ache in the lower abdomen or groin
an increase, or significant decrease, in the size of one testicle.
Men should report any of these to a doctor as soon as possible.A hydrocele feels like a small fluid filled balloon inside the scrotum. It is smooth, and is mainly in front of one of the testes. Hydroceles vary greatly in size. Hydroceles are normally painless and harmless. Large hydroceles cause discomfort because of their size. As the fluid of a hydrocele is transparent, light shown through a hydrocelic region will be visible from the other side. You should check for hydrocele, varicocele
Symptoms of a hydrocele can easily be distinguished from testicular cancer, as a hydrocele is soft and fluidy, where a testicular cancer feels hard and rough.
Through diagnostic ultrasound the accumulation of fluids can be diagnosed correctlyVaricocele is an abnormal enlargment of the veins in the scrotum draining the testicles. The testicular blood vessels originate in the abdomen and course down through the inguinal canal as part of the spermatic cord on their way to the testis. Up-ward flow of blood in the veins is ensured by small one-way valves that prevent backflow. Defective valves, or compression of the vein by a nearby structure, can cause dilatation of the veins near the testis, leading to the formation of a varicocele.

I wouldn't think of it as weather related.
It could be the following:
Hernia
Varicocele
Testicular Carcinoma
Seminoma
He needs to go in and get it checked.
The men at highest risk for testicular cancer are those from age 20-35.
