All carnivores hunt; it's a natural way of life. That said, I do believe that those who hunt should only kill what they or others will eat (or for population control when necessary). We are the earth's caretakers and therefore should be good stewards of it.

for a bunch of "compassionate people" there's sure a lot of violence expressed in these posts. Hunting is needed...it's an important part to control numbers. For someone who wants a trophy *and* meat there's nothing wrong with it. I know someone who bought a large parcel of land to hunt on - the deer are fed, they have browse, they're protected from other hunters. MOST of them are not bothered...the guy passes by most and takes care of a whole lot more than he kills. For people who have 100+ deer on their land - they're feeding - why shouldn't they be allowed to take a few.

And it's not just deer although those seem to be brought up. The population would quickly overgrow making more problems for motorists, crops, etc and end up with deer starving to death. I think a few getting a quick death from a bullet is preferred to many starving to death in agony because there isn't enough feed...or gasping for air with body parts broken after being hit and left for dead along a highway.
Antelope, moose, elk, game birds, squirrel, rabbit, coon, etc are also hunted.

Hunting is NOT by the way just a guy thing...many women hunt.

I don't see what the point is, we can go the the grocery store and buy meat that was raised for slaughter. Those deer or whatever were just living their lives until people shot them, that can't be a fun way to go, not that there is a good way.
The strange thing is that I think fishing is ok, I don't mind people going out and fishing for their food, I guess because it seems like a way of saving money since fish are expensive at the grocery store. I guess I just give mamals and birds a higher prioity than fish, I don't know why but I just do.

i feel its right because if we didnt hunt then the world would be overpopulated like what would we do without spiders? we may not want to admit it but spiders help a whole lot like they hunt mosquitos and hunters hunt animals its nature but only if the animals are hunted for their meat and skin thats just mean for sport

I don't hunt but I feel if you do It should only be for food nothing else. If you just like the sport of it then donate the caucus to a homeless shelter or local food bank. There are plenty of hungry children out there that would appreciate the meal.

the act of hunting itself doesn't really bother me, but i hate being dragged along. my dad used to hunt all the time and he would always, always make me go with him. it would me me, dad, and my 2 brothers and it was sooooooooo boring. just not a chick thing to do you know? he made me go w/him until i was 15. i'm 27 now and sooooo glad my husband isn't into hunting! LOL anyway, like i said the act of hunting sits fine with me as long as it's done legally. the area my dad would hunt was over populated with boar so to me cases like that are okay.

oh yeah and he would give away the meat and we'd keep some to eat.

I am not a hunter but I have one in my family and I tell him all the time it's wrong. Unless you are eating what you are killing, I don't see how that is morally right.

As long as the hunters eat the meat and use the skin from the animals I don't care...But if your just killing it to hang its head on your wall, well I think that is kinda sick.

I believe it is ok if they are not hunting for trophies. Hunters should eat what they kill, not waste it.
