first you should prbably make sure your car uses freon in the first place...

chances are it used R-134a or some other check under the hood or the manual to be sure you are about to use the right coolant...

engine has to be on wth the A/C running (full blast). Just wait till the can gets lighter and shake it, if you don't feel liquid sloshing then its done.

Recharging an AC system in a car is a job left to the professional. Too much refrigerant in a car system will blow it out and you'll wish you had had a pro do it.

Recharging now requires it be done thusly: the Freon is sucked out of your car, cleaned and put back in by a very expensive machine. Any shortfall in Freon is added, at about $50 a pound.

Don't try it at home. Adding it straight from the can is asking for trouble.

ok the engine has to be running you can buy the hose and all at autozone or wherever you shop. it has to be put in the correct valve or you are going to mess up. why not get some friend or family member to do it for you. if you do not know what youre doing.

You have a recharge kit i assume? the directions should be on it. If not , you can probably view a quick free instructional vid at the autozone website.
