Yes there are. The risks for genetic birth defects starts to increase at the magic number of 35. The current risks for Down's Syndrome babies for example are low in the 20 year olds but then begins to significantly increase at age 35....
There are other genetic diseases that increase with advanced maternal age...
Such As Patau's and Edwards syndromes.
Down's is the biggest risk though.

Yup, the magic number is 35. After that, there might not be risks to you, but there will be risks to your baby (downs syndrome and many other disabilities). If you don't want to have a baby before you turn 35, you might want to consider adoption, it's a great way to get a healthy baby.

Probably in your late 30's or early 40's. Have you ever heard of mericle babies? They come from people that age, but yes it is risky. First of all it's hard to get pregnant, then you have to consider you're not as young as you used to be, so it's more stressful, painful, and more dangerous. If it does happen, doctors keep a good eye on you to make sure you or the baby come out alive (I'm being serious).

Pregnancy and it's risks are not soley dependant on age, however, the older a woman gets, the harder it is on her body to create another living being. After 35, the eggs you've carried all your life are also 35, in other words they also age and degrade, and the risk of abnormal fetuses, being greater, is the result. We as human beings were designed to have our children in our twenties. Having them before then is a risk, as our eggs are not mature, and after that because the eggs are too mature. Just realize that I am speaking of risks here, not certainties.

Maybe after 40. My mom had my little sister at 40 and the worst she got was a hernia, but that's probably because it was her second c-section.

No its seeming to be safer now, to wait until youre a litle older to birth.
Plus youre more mature.
Dont worry- only 1 in 12,000 people die from childbirth.
