London to Leeds is 0.2 miles longer (according to my route planner!) So if you assume the same speed or driving, the same weight of car, the same car etc (in fact assume all that can vary are identical).

I'm interested in knowing how you know that Leeds is higher than London? If you are taking it that when you look at a map it is above it - then you belong in the 14th Century!

The earth is ROUND therefore, you could assume that London is the starting point and is at the top of the sphere and as a result any journey away from London is downhill!!

Let me know if you try!

The answer is if all potenicial variables were the same, i.e you didnt que in traffic ect... you would use the same amount of fuel on each journey obviously. I have traveled from leeds to cornwall and back a quite a few times and allways use roughley the same amount of fuel and I know by the cost of petrol, which varys at different garages, but still its very close.

From Leeds to London must use more fuel. If you drive to Leeds you are definitely going downhill.

you would use the amount of fuel extra that it would take to raise a vehicle the height difference between leeds and london, so it would take more fuel to get to leeds, also if you went to leeds first before returning then the experiment would probably end in leeds when you got carjacked.

It depends where you live. If you live in London then Leeds to London will take less fuel because it's going home and going home is always shorter...stands to reason.

Easy - If you drive there in a Bentley and back in a Mini the difference will be about £70.00
