There is a condition that many women get after having a baby called diastasis recti. The two muscles that run from your ribs to your pelvis are knit together pretty well before pregnancy, but as the baby increases in size, they pull apart to accommodate the growing baby (kind of like when shoes are unlaced instead of being pulled together to keep the shoe on your foot).

Unfortunately, they don't automatically knit back together after the baby. So that, in combination with probably having some fat to lose as well (most women do, I know I did) will make your stomach appear lax and pregnant.

I recommend Tae Bo and "Lose Your Mummy Tummy," but I wouldn't worry about doing anything too straining yet -- with a four month old you have plenty on your hands already!!

I probably wore my maternity clothes until my son was 6 months old. It is very normal. I did pilates every day (ugh, not easy) & I lost all of my pregnancy weight plus some. It took about a year & a half. Good luck. Hold your head up. You aren't alone.
