pmsl at the 15 duh! they didnt read it properly
15% off 100 is 85
15% 'of' 100 is 15.
if you need to work out a percentage use your calculator. You can either use the percent button or with a basic calculator to work out a percent do 100 x 0.15 - it wil state 15 so then subtract that from 100. Hope that helps!
Say you needed to know 14% off 567 you would use your calculator and do the following
567 x 0.14 = 79.38
so then 567 - 79.38 = 487.62

Ok for the dumb dumb who called the 85ers dumb listen up. Look at the question!! It says-- what is 15% off of 100. Meaning you are at a sale and see a shirt on a rack that says 15% off. You look at the tag and alas it costs $100. You use your brain or calculator on you cell- whichever applies to you. Multiply 100 by .15. Surprise you know it is $15 off of $100. But again, dumb dumb forgot the second step (just like so many of our kids taking standardized tests- wonder where they got it from- their parents??)
Anyway finish step 2. Subtract 100-15 and you get 85.
Ta da! Don't call people dumb if you answer incorrectly.
Original price of shirt $100
Sale price of shirt $85
Smart mouth person forgetting step 2- priceless

15% of 100.00 is 15.00 so 15% off of 100.00 is 100.00 minus 15.00, which is 75.00
