Hungry....angry...meagry or aggry

OK well you obviously haven't asked the question properly, because the real question goes like this:

Angry and hungry are two words that end in '-gry'. There are three words in the English language. What is the third word? Everyone knows what it means and everyone uses it every day. Look closely and I have already given you the third word. What is it?

Now, the first sentance is merely there to put you off. Indeed, angry and hungry are two words that end in -gry and are almost certainly the only ones recognised in today's dictionaries. The key sentences are the second and third. If you just read those two, the answer is obvious. There are three words in 'The English Language' (yes: 1) the 2) English and 3) Language) so the third word is Language.

So the answer is simply 'Language'. It's a pretty stupid question made up by one of those annoyingly clever people who have nothing better to do. I'm only sounding so smug about it because I just found a very informative web-site (having wasted ages pondering it, thank you!!!).

Perhaps that'll solve everyone's curiosity and we can get on with answering the next question.....

Well done for asking such a difficult one,

Bye!!!

The original question this is based on was infact
There are three words in the English language that end with 'gry'. Two of these are angry and hungry. The third word is a very common word, and you use it often. If you have read what I have told you, you will see that I have given you the third word. What is the third word? Think very carefully."

The next page of the book gave this answer:

"Three, the question has nothing to do with angry, hungry, or any of the many other obscure words that end in 'gry', it is a simple question asking you what the third word in the sentence is. As you take tests, remember this."

Thre are no other common words, Aggry is one. but is obsolete, same as anhungry.

"Angry" and "hungry" are two words that end in "gry".
There are three words in the English language. What is the third word? Everyone knows what it means and everyone uses it every day. Look closely and I have already given you the third word. What is it?

Answer: "language".

This puzzle has circulated widely on the Internet for some years, but usually in an abbreviated form such as "Name three common English words ending in 'gry'", which has no good third
answer.

Try asking it correctly next time!

I know the riddle you got this from. It reads:
"Think of words ending in -GRY. Angry and hungry are two of them. There are only three words in the English language. What is the third word? The word is something that everyone uses every day. If you have listened carefully, I have already told you what it is."

The three words are THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. Only ANGRY and HUNGRY end in GRY. Sorry.

There are actually only two English words ending in gry. However, there is a riddle that goes something like...

Two words in the English language that end in "gry" are angry and "hungry". What is the third word.

The answer (in this particular case) is "in" (it being the third word of the riddle).

More background on this particular riddle can be found here...

The riddle you were asked is "Angry and Hungry are two words that end with -gry. There are three words in THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE. What is the third word?" The answer then is LANGUAGE.
