Recently, I was in a long term relationship with a woman who wore a garter belt and nylon stockings. One day I asked her why she did this every day. She wore seamless RHT (reinforced heel and toe) on a daily basis for the whole day. She told me it was a comfort thing. She had tried pantyhose and determined they bunched up at the wrong time in uncomfortable places and thigh highs had that elastic band which constricted enough to be painful late in the day. And, by wearing her underwear outside the garters, it was much more convenient to use the bathroom facilities. She had a garter belt (several actually) which was wide, 4" or so, which she said was essential to all day wear. The frilly lacy things from Victorias Secret and Fredericks of Hollywood are mere sexual toys, not for long time wear. She also told me 6 wide straps were a must. Regular nylons need support at the side as well as the front and back, and wide straps prevented them cutting in to her rear when she was sitting. The 4 thin straps on the frilly lacy things will not stand up to a whole day of wear. Regular nylon stockings do not stretch, so correct size for the leg shape is a must. A half size larger or a little longer is OK, but smaller or shorter is quickly uncomfortable. She bought her stockings imported from overseas since no looms exist in the US to make these stockings these days. Her main reason was comfort, but she did tell me that the smooth and shiny old style nylons made her feel sexy and very feminine. More care is necessary than for modern stretch hosiery since smooth nylons snag and run easily. Stretch, one size fits all, stockings are always rough in texture. The nylons were not a sexual thing, though later when we started living together, we worked them into our playtime...
I have to confess, it was a thrill for me to be out at dinner and put my hand on her thigh and feel the garter, and she later told me it as a thrill for her knowing it was a thrill for me.

Well first of all pantyhose are worn by hooters girls, now if they did wear stockings sales would increase.

You see them all the time in movies - sexy women who want to improve the mood of their relationship do.
Personally, I prefer thigh high stockings with elastic - they stay up without the garter.
Hooters waitresses wear panyhose.

You possibly are wrong.
Stockings are good choice, if someone does not like pantyhose, if wearing skirts.
Going bare legged isn't always convenient on special occasions.
So, who really knows ?
