Our society is focused on status and material possessions. People can't make decisions for themselves because they don't know who they are. They are too busy trying to be something they are not.
If you are truly comfortable with your self as a person, you wouldn't need to ask those questions.
We're spoiled. Too many times the truth and the right thing to do are harder than the alternative, and we like to take the easy way out.
We have no backbone and we let others make decisions for us. How else do you think that six years of our foreign policy has thrown the world into armed conflict and economic hardship.
We're all trying to live a lie and the lie is slowly starting to fall apart under the weight of truth.

So many times we can't really actually see past the "love" or whatever that we see to see what is really going on.
Do you really think that woman that are controled like to stay with the men that control them? No but sometimes they don't know anything else and when they get another set of eyes - someone from the outsides opinion on the situation they start to realize things more for themselves and in the end they will have to make the decision for themselves -

Um, people make up their own minds in the end. Nobody can make a decision FOR you. Ultimately, they choose what they want to apply to their life, or not. Yahoo answers is designed for those who need advice, and help resolving an issue that's personal to them. And I'm sure a lot of these people that have a hard time making up their own minds, are also the one's with insecurities. They don't need people to discourage their questioning or ridiculed about it. It's not nice. Most of us just like to have a second opinion...don't you? If not, you must be one of those who's so perfect you have no problems and everything you do/say is the right thing, and your life is so together, you never have to ask anything of anyone. I'm happy for you. I wish everyone could be as blessed as you. Have a wonderful day!

No - ppl are too insecure about themselves to be confident in their decisions. They are not sure if they are making the right choices for themselves. Some just like having other ppls point of view.

I do agree with you in the sense that people are very obsessed with that issue at the moment these days. some people do want other opinions yes, but many other people are a bit insecure about what they decide to do. they may be doubtful when they make their decision, hence them asking other people their advice about what they have decided. I think that people today make some decisions WAY too fast.

They are making the decisions for themselves. They just want input. What's wrong with that?

Well since it sounds very high schoolish to me, I will pass you a note in study hall explaining it.
People are just curious about what others think. Many times they are unsure of themselves, or don't trust their own judgement, so they look for validation in the minds of others around them.

Nope. Is that an acceptable answer? I hope so because if not I might curl into the fetal position and never leave it.
