We were all born with sinful natures. Doesn't that mean, then, that we have the choice in life on whether or not to act on those sinful natures? Pedophiles, homosexuals, gender trading, lying, adultery, deception, sex outside of marriage, murder, etc.? Would a pedophile be able to march in the streets, get a coolition together of other child molesters, and get legislators to make the rest of society accept their lifestyles because they were "born" that way? Since children are murdered in-utero, would children also be "fair game" because, then, the rights of pedophiles would be more important?

Sin is wrong no matter how you try to justify it. God gave us the freedom to do what is right. It is our responsibily to avoid sin.

Yes we were all born into sin, but it was never God's intentions to leave us there. God gives us the opportunity to get back what Adam lost for us, if we want it. Therefore, God has release into the world a knowledge of Him and His ways. Consequently, God has now shown man right from wrong and man is no longer justified saying I just a sinner. Once someone has received the revelation of the truth and they refuse to accept it, they will find themselves now judged by the Word of God. If you go to any prison and ask a pedophile, rapist, murderer, theif and so forth, did they do wrong they will tell you yes. Why? Because now they are sitting in a little room with their consciences being convicted of what they did. If a pedophile did want to initiate a cooalition of child molest he would arose the anger and wrath of God to his own doom.

We are born with sin, yes. We do have a choice, yes. But you cant put homosexuals in the same category as pedophiles and adultery, because the choice of homosexuality doesnt impede on anyone else, like pedophilia and adultrery does. With homosexual relationships both parties are consenting adults (most of the time). Pedophilia, lying, adultery, and deception can hurt people. While you should do what you can to protect yourself and your loved ones, you should be respectful of a homosexuals choice because their relationships dont affect your life and therefore you should allow them to be as free as anyone else is.

The idea of original sin is part of bilbio-idolatry, and depends on the myth(s -- there were two) of Genesis being literally true -- which is prima facie ludicrous.

What sort of a lying deity do you think God is? We are seeing light from galaxies 14,000,000,000 light years away -- and yet Genesis and the rest of the Bible tells us that the Universe was only created in 4004 BC --- So for us to be seeing galaxies 14 billion light years away, God has to be deliberately fooling us, for there is no other way we could see them. We have living plants and at least 1 species of animals with members still alive that have lived more than 6,000 or so years.

Of course oh.... could it be that the Bible is mythic? Written by men who were trying to explain things around campfires when we didn't have all of the science we have now? Could they have made up tales, the same way we do for our children -- that explained impossible things -- could that be why the Bible says that there is a firmament (a solid dome) over the earth -- the same as Sumerian myth said there was? Could that be why the order of creation in Genesis one is not identical to the order of creation in Genesis two? Could that be why God is still referring to himself as a group in the garden of Eden, and why he clearly isn't yet omniscient when he and his angels approach Abraham on their way to Sodom and Gemorrah (oddly two of the cities destroyed in the Sumerian Lamentation texts --though for totally different reasons and during a war between the din.gur.)?

The Bible is mythic, mainstream Christianity has known that for hundreds of years. Mythic and indefensible as anything else but mythic. The Bible is, while a very nice book that is the basis (in one form or another) the basis of the three great monotheistic faiths of the West -- actually a book of myths, and some of them are pretty horrid myths while others are just plain silly.

The earth is not flat, it does not have corners, and it is not established on pillars. Beetles do not have four legs, they have six. Rabbits do not chew their cuds, they have none. Ai and Jericho were both abandoned when the Israelites came to them and Jericho NEVER was walled. Oddly, though a million Jews (more or less) marched around the wilderness for 40 years and ALL died there, we cannot find a single skeleton from the march, even though we have found the remains of tribes of 200 non-semites in the same area. Pi really DOES work, and a perfectly round pool cannot be made that uses a pi of 3.0 rather than 3.14 -- it would leak through a gap in the side.

The god of the old testament, almost certainly either a rendition of one of the great Annunaki of the Sumerians or of Ra of the Egyptians, is a monster who cannot possibly deserve worship, even if real. He accepts human sacrifice, demands genocides, and wipes the faces of his priests with dung. He is, in very real terms, anthropomorphic, having a palace on top of the firmament (the dome covering the earth) where he keeps snow and hail "against the time of troubles" (war???) [If you want to read up on this type of thing, there is a fair list on the site I maintain. Go to www.rebuff.org and read the three pages under bible on the left hand menu.]

The short version of what I am saying is -- its myth. Fairy stories, like Grimm's and like Santa Claus. Furthermore, Christianity, despite what you have been told, was not HISTORICALLY based on the Bible as you know it. The canon was not established universally in anything resembling a form you would recognize until the Council of Carthage, hundreds of years after Christ. The early church had 40 gospels, but no one church had more than one book or maybe a very few. Often a gospel, or a letter -- or sometimes nothing at all. Different bishops wrote different canons, just as they had different theologies (gnostic/anti-gnostic for example). The Council of Nice (Nicea) established the creed by vote, and many things (trinity) won by only one or two votes after substantial violence among the participants. Divine inspiration? For goodness sake be real.

There is a BIG, BIG, BIG difference in a pedophile and a homosexual, sweetheart. If you were to poll most of the gay/lesbians on here I can guaran-damn-tee that almost all of us would not have any desires towards children. I highly resent being put in the same catagory as that!!! I am a MOTHER and I can damn well assure you that I don't look at my child or her friends in any kind of sexual way! THEY ARE CHILDREN. You need to back off when you put all gays and all lesbians in the same catagory of pedophiles. If I've misunderstood your questions then I apologize for my harshness. Otherwise I suggest you keep this kind of crap to yourself and not lable us all.

Pedophiles, liars, adulterous people, and even murders and rapist have all the right to marry (as long as it is to a woman, even if in prison serving time for their crimes). All of these marriages are blessed by the US Government, and most by the churches you all attend. So why not give us the same right you all give to these other horrific people.

Second, until GOD speaks himself. Or Jesus comes back and says differently I know love is not a sin. Your bible was interpreted, written all by men. They make mistakes. Who is to say they were not like you and just afraid of gays, and put it in the bible?

Last several churches that preach the bible now bless gay marriages? What do you say to them?

To be a self proclaimed christian you are certainly judgmental.

>Pedophiles - prey on children
>Adultery-having sex outside of marriage
>Murderers-take the lives of others
>Lying-many times causes great pain to others

You are being ridiculous in your argument-to compare the above to being born homosexual is just plain ignorance. Pray to be able to feel compassion for your neighbor. Leave the judging of others to God and hope that he is more merciful to you than you are to others. You will be blessed for it.

Why do you keep asking the same question?

Don't you realize how ignorant you sound?

You can't compare homosexuality to pedophilia or gender trading or anything else you listed.

They're not even remotely the same thing.

Besides, who are you to judge?

I'm not religious but if I were I'd say the real sinner here is you.

Doesn't your bible say 'Judge not lest ye be judged'?

And you've been doing a lot of that today.

The difference is that pedophiles and rapist commit acts against those incapable of giving consent. Homosexuals are consenting adults and therefore are not committing a sin just for loving another person. Now what ever acts they do is between them and God and not for you to judge. But hating them for who they love is also not for you to judge.

2006-08-04 06:56:52 · answer #9 · answered by ♂ Randy W. ♂ 6 · 0 0

Homosexuals are people who fall in love with members of their own gender. They are not rapists or pedophiles any more than heterosexuals are, and whatever sexual contact there is between them is between consenting adults. Rapists, pedophiles, etc. cause harm to come to others who are not willing to engage in the acts.

Some interesting things that Jesus said:

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." -Matthew 7:1-2

"Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
-Matthew 9:19

"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves." -Matthew 7:15

Anyone preaching hatred against homosexuals is, by Jesus' teachings, a false prophet.

Any Christian who hates someone because of who they are is a very bad Christian.

This, young lady, is the most unimaginably dumb chunk of armchair philosophy I think I've ever heard.

Since you're clearly religious, and clearly deranged, why not ask your priest or minister the same question? And next time you look upon an innocent newborn, look REAL hard and tell me where the "sin" is.
