Depends on where you work. If you're a stripper, I can see why they would fire you. Also, I know of people who have gotten fired using personal computer time for hours out of the work day.

You can't be fired for being pregnant. However, if Florida is an employment at will state you can be fired for no reason, or I should say you can be fired with the employer not giving you a reason. If you have not done so already notify your employer that you intend to use FLMA. Pick some dates, you can change them. This will give you some protection since if you are fired the burden of proof is on the employer to show he/she did not fire you because you requested FMLA. Pregnancy IS NOT a disability under the law.

They can't fire you for being pregnant, but they can find or make up another reason if they really want to be rid of you. I was laid off once when I was 5-1/2 months pregnant. Maybe I could have fought it, but it would have been more stress than I needed at that stage. I'm sure employers count on that.

An employer cannot fire a woman during her pregnancy unless her work performance (i.e. attendance, quality) is poor. If an employer terminates a pregnant employee due to her prenancy alone, that's discrimination. Call your state labor department if you feel you're being discriminated at the workplace. Hopes this helps!

A gal I went to highschool with was fired and she sued and got well over $100,000. They must have a very good reason or I would sue.

One can get fired at any time, I suppose, but not BECAUSE you are pregnant. Talk to your union rep, or labour board, or whatever state body there is to give you information.

you can be fired at any time within the law, and regardless if they can come up with a reason that's good enough they can fire you
