Help, my goldfish (fantail) is loosing its tail very slowly. What does that really mean? What should I do?

Either some other fish is biting it, or it got a fungal infection called finrot. You can buy special tablet (Wallmart that carries fish will have it as well) that you dissolve in a tank. Also there is medicine that comes in form of blue drops - same source, or pet store.

You should act quickly, like, today.

Not enough info there to give you the proper answer. Do you test your water? I would not use the little test strips because far too often they are NOT accurate..I would look for a good web site where you can get the help you need from people who have 'been there done that'. Check this site out

It's probably finrot, put in a bit of aquarium salt and he should heal

Possibly means that something else in the tank is eating it.
