Just found out another friend bought their first house and another friend just got married. This now constant stream of friends getting married or buying condos makes me feel like I'm underperforming compared to my twenty-something peers. It's just plain demoralizing. The hardest part is thinking I could have did things differently. Anybody dealing or dealt with this frustration?

Everyone deals with this at one time or another. Marriage in a group of friends becomes like a fraternity / sorority, everyone wants to pledge. The house thing is cool, since you get a tax break.

Just worry about you and what you can control, and don't worry about keeping up with the Jones'.

Your 20-somtyhing peers now have a 300 thousand dollar mortgage to be paid over thirty years. Their wives will soon start popping out babies and they will be getting deeper in debt.

Your now married friends with condos will then want to be you: single, childless and livin' la vida loca. They will later find refuge in your one bedroom apartment and drink with you while crying the 7 year itch.

Be happy with what you have...the grass is not always greener on the other side. Good luck

The grass is always greener on the other side. But remember that it still has to be mowed. Don't compare yourself to where you friends are. Everyone's life moves at it's own pace. Just because your friends are starting their families, doesn't mean that it's time for you. Don't rush things. Enjoy being single and with no real committments. Your life will fall into place when the time is right.

Envy is a sin...don't sweat it each person goes at their own pace. The grass maybe greener for them now but who cares, you never know what struggles these people go through to obtain. The flashy car or dream home, they could be in serious debt. If your not sincere of their good fortune you should stay away from them. If not you will just be filled with jealousy and envy.

Just quite thinking about and and get married and buy a condo if that is what you want. If it does not work out "oh, well" at least you tried.

its not always greener on the other side. sure with another persons income you have the ability to buy more things but then you are also responsible for those bills and if you dont pay them you are responsible for that going onto your credit too. men aren't always responsible enough to pay thier bills.
