This is based on a quote from the movie "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure".

So how would you make someone's life better, or more bearable? You don't have to try to save the world, just make life a little bit better for yourself and at least one other person.

Ya know, Think Globally, Act Locally.

I would make someones life better because I feel that when people are around me they get to take a break from reality. I have my own little world going on. It is full of fun, sensuality, playfulness, yet serious and hardcore.I allow the people closest to me to enter this world with me. To exsist in my relm. They have described me as a drug they are addicted to....but better. They enjoy the fact that I am able to carry an intelligeint conversation....not only that but I make it so fun while doing so. Whomever I am with is sure to have a good time! If we are bored...I might suggest getting nude and running around the house. "In two feet of snow?!!" They ask....I reply..."Well, sure! That is the fun of it!" I am the best of all people wrapped into one.
Sure I have my nasty side like everyone else....but making up is the best part! I tend to adjust to peoples mood around me....unless they are in a sad mood....then we are rolling around on the floor in our underwear by the end of the night laughing!
I make people feel good about themselves. I idolize them and am constantly pointing out their good qualities. Not for them. For me. Not because it makes me feel good for making them feel good but because that is how I really feel about them and I can't help but to express my gratefulness to them for taking the time to be my friend and to love me.
As you said...I am not trying to save THE world....but I have managed to save MY world.
Also....don't feel obligated to pick mine as best answer...I am not expecting that just because I give them to you all the time. I just wanted to answer a question and put my heart into it, just as you have done for me. That in its self is much better than 10 points.

To make someone's life better or more bearable, you have to appreciate them. Do things for them that no one else would do. Spend plenty of quality time with the person, and help them out during tough times.

People also appreciate gifts; and money usually seems to be the answer to brighten up one's day. But really, gifts dont have to be bought. Give your friend a hug, write them a song, anything small to make it the highlight of their day.

And if your talking about globally, then merely give. Give things to the poor, perhaps clothes or stuffed animals that you dont need anymore. This would make both you and the receiver happy; it will give you more space and for the other, it's something to get them through the tough times, or clean them up a bit.

So overall, to make people happy and keep yourself content, do something that will brighten up both of your days. Doing something nice makes you feel better, and receiving something nice makes the other person feel just as warm. Do something to make even a slight difference in someone's life. The little things that one will remember are the most treasured and important.

Speaking for myself, I try to be honest with my wife and children, even when they don't want to hear the truth. That makes all our lives more bearable because we eliminate the uneccesary melodrama of the lie.

Globally, as one man, I can't do much, so I sponsor children in Africa so that they can get medicine, education and improved living conditions.

I don't have much, and given the cost of everything else, 20 dollars a month is a small price to pay to save a child.

I've gotten more satisfaction out of the child sponsorship than I ever have from writing to my congressman and senator about global issues that affect our country.

Peace out.

Fore score and seven minutes ago, we, your fore fathers were brought forth upon a most excellent adventure. Conceived by our new friends, Bill and Ted. These two great gentlemen are dedicated to a proposition which was true in my time, just as it's true today. Be excellent to each other, and (pause) party on dudes!

I make everyone I come in contact with smile. Or at least try

Dude, a most excellent question!!!
There are many people who do good deeds that never get any recognition; I would visit different places of "need" and find out who's doing the best work and lend assistance...maybe reading to a group of "older folks" at a retirement home, or making and serving food at a soup kitchen for the homeless, perhaps assist blind people by driving them around so they can shop...all things that I've already done in the past...by making life better for others, you also improve life for yourself!

I was thinking along the lines of Make a Wish Foundation. I've always wanted to work for them to help make a wish come true. It's not saving the world, just one person at a time ,making a dream come true for someone before they pass on or get too sick to do anything but wait.
This is on my to do list. Thanks for the question.

I think we should just be nice to one another, holding a door open or letting someone into traffic. We are trying to teach our son that doing these things is nice, even when the people don't say thank you. I tell my son, thank you, out loud so that the person they just helped hears me praise him for his good deed.

Start with a smile.

You'd be amazed at how many people's days can be improved by just smiling at them.

I always heard to smile at people. Its easy to scowl and look ticked, especially when you are mad but if one person smiles at you it will change their mood. Who cares if its only for a second.
