On the subject of phobias I can't stand ravelled up cassette tape, especially if it's still in the tape player. I can't go near it and come out in a sweat and shakes if anyone comes at me with it. Just like a proper phobia. Anyone else here got an unusual phobia or am I the only one who's strange?

I've got the standard phobia of spiders. On a slightly weirder note...I'm still afraid of What Lives Under My Bed. So I can't sleep with my feet or my arm hanging off the edge of the bed.

I don't have a phobia but my daughter does. She has a severe shark phobia. We have a taxidermy down the road w/ a great white out front, she freaks out. My son brought a book home from school with a shark on the cover. She ran out of the house screaming. She can watch real ones on tv but pictures freak her out. She wont go in the aquarium at the zoo because there is a statue of one in there. She has even hyperventilated over them.

I can't stand metal objects. Not all of them but some, especially if I think they are dirty. I despise earrings and necklaces, I can't stand it if someone asks me to help them put a necklace on. I don't even like touching money, it stinks and feels disgusting. It's even worse when I go to the dentist as then I have to have metal things in my mouth and all I want to do is cry and I start choking and breathing heavily. It's making me sick just thinking about it. I don't know what the name is but I hate having this phobia. I can't even bear to wear a belt as the metal buckle will be touching my skin.

I'm kind of afraid of asking women out on dates. It's not your run-of-the-mill fear of rejection social phobia. Instead, I get images of them attacking me, usually with a knife or other sharp object. I don't freak out when I have these thoughts, although maybe I do sweat a little and feel like running, but I do avoid them afterwards instead of asking them out. Also, I don't imagine them actually killing me because for some reason that would be a relief. Instead, it's just wounding to incapacitation.

I remember when i was watching Maury, this lady had a phobia of being scared of olives, and other lady was scared of mustard, which i thought was very stupid; i would understand if a person was scared of snakes, spiders, and other insects and animals, but those two things were very strange.

Not sure if this counts, but the magic roundabout series and the newish film. In fact anything to do with it, pictures, mugs, t-shirts etc. All freak me out. My doctors surgery has a big muriel on the wall...Have to sit in the other room.

Baby dolls and veins
both make me want to puke!

If I am trying to eat and a kid is playing with a babydoll near me, I lose my appetite.

If someone touches me in the crook of my arm, like where they draw blood, or my wrist, where the veins are real prominent, I get sick and freaked out!

I'm afraid to stay over at someone's house overnight--ANYONE'S house, or a hotel or anything. I'm fine during the day, but if I have to sleep there...I wig out. It's sort of a special case of agoraphobia. I get panic attacks, and I'm taking meds and seeing a psychologist and psychiatrist about it.
