Gosh "Absolutely Not" will not do you well and is way too extreme for a 13 year old when it comes to things like this. I think if you start out simple and subtle it does absolutely no harm! Also another thing to consider is the child's skin. If she's blotchy and has breakouts (which I had and was extremely embarrassed about it but more so bc my mom wouldn't allow me to wear makeup), of course she's going to want to wear makeup, especially when alot of the other girls are usually wearing makeup as well. When my daughter is 12-13 I'll let her start with lip gloss at first, concealer and/or powder if her skin isn't clear, then mascara later on..and so on. You should teach her how to apply makeup well as she grows or take her to a makeup artist - alot of times they'll do a pre-teen makeover which isn't over-the-top - just the basics - a natural look.

Yes, I don't think a parent should be allowed to restrict their child's appearance once they hit 13 years old. At the same time, the make up should be purchased with the 13 yr olds own money if it is something her parents would rather her not do. Also, at 13 you don't need make-up and usually only wear it because its hip and trendy and all your friends have convinced you that it would make you look so much better. Actually, guys prefer girls without make-up than with. Most guys think it is stupid and don't understand why girls do that crap... all it does is ruin their natural skin and natural beauty. The younger you start the more dependent on it you become. You'll start to feel naked without out it or think you aren't pretty without it... also your color will fade because is never gets to see the sun except through layers of make up.

If you are wearing make-up to look dark and goth, that's a whole different story... you're not trying to look pretty, you're trying to look different than the average teen, and that's fine, but like I said, it will ruin your skin and coloring in the long run.

Feeling ugly and insecure, a thirteen year old can wear a makeup especially if the crowd she is into is into makeups. But you'll have to see whether the 13 y/o girl has young skin. If she has, make up isn't good yet because she'll be prone to skin damage as she grows..

it depends what the popular public preception of it is. This is a time when you should throw out the "I don't care what other people think" philosophy. If the popular preception is that 13 year olds that wear makeup are whores (just a hypothetical sitiaution) than I wouldn't recomend it.. Let me draw another paralell. I'm a straight male. If I know that public preception is that gay people all wear purple hats I'm not going to go out wearing a putple hat, because I want to be known as a straight male and not a gay one. Get the idea.

Im asking alot of should a thirteen do questions about my daughter. She's about to enter 9th grade and I just don't know what to say any more it not like when i was in the ninth grade and thirteen, but any way as far as they should go with that is eyeliner make up isn't good for your skin anyway.

Yes but I think sometimes the parents are scared because sometimes the teen is already "too pretty " and makeup will put them over the top. Parents don't want teens to have to worry about stalkers and pervs. I wasnt allowed to wear makeup or pierced ears at that age but I wasnt "too pretty" at all. My parents were strict and I guess my parents didnt want me to grow up sooner than they would have liked . But dont worry.....you will spend more time as an adult than as a child or teen so enjoy it while you can. I wish I could be a teen again !!!

Yes, but not too heavy. At your age, you have your youthful natural beauty, you don't need too much. Just a light lip gloss during the day, if you're going out at night maybe eye shadow. I started wearing mascara in my early teens because my eyelashes are verrrry light and looked like I didn't have any. Make up is meant to accentuate what you have. When you're young, if you put on too much make up it looks more silly than beautiful.

Yes, but don't look too overdone (if you put too much on, people can tell, and they'll wonder what you're trying to hide.)Maybe some liquid foundation in the color of your skin tone (mix with water in the palm of your hand for more natural coverage), some tinted lip balm (lip gloss is sticky) and mascara. If you want to define cheekbones, use bronzer, not blush-blush makes you look like a clown.

just a little lip gloss. You can wear some natural shades of eyeshadow, like browns and nudes. Do not pile on the makeup. A little is always best.

when i was younger, we started wearing makeup in high school.. of course we played around w/ makeup, but at school no one really wore much. even in h.s., only some girls would really wear some. these days i guess it's different..but no matter what, i think what's more important is knowing ur beautiful regardless, and knowing ur smart and a good kid. that way makeup can only enhance what u have, instead of depending on it or hiding behind something else.
