Why is Mel Gibson so popular now that he got drunk and insulted Jews?

Yes there are more important things than listening to a self absorbed drunken buffoon irritating the rest of us with his delusions of grandeur. What a sad world we live in when the actions of a spoiled egotistical hateful human being draws more attention than the pointless suffering of millions worldwide. We should get our priorities straight. Gibson the Gibbon matters not one iota - he is a legend in his own mind, now let's move on and leave him to wallow in the hate he has created.

Mel Gibson, aside from being a Catholic and prolific breeder, is also a devout homophobe and thus the reason for my personal boycott of all his products.
Information I wasn't aware of (not that I care for being any more aware of Gibson than I already am) came forth after his brush with the police: his father taught him the Holocaust never happened.
When asked his own beliefs about the reality of the Holocaust, Gibson avoided a direct response by saying his father never lied to him, thus avoiding further controversy (at the time he was dealing with the Jewish Anti Defamation League regarding his personally funded production of that JC pic, 'The Passion' ); a film that was, ironically, extremely popular with evangelical Xtians.
Gibson got off lightly when arrested.
As far as I'm concerned he needs to be taken back to the drunk tank and left there ... for a very long time.
As things go in Follywood, the rich and powerful get off (any way they can).
Gibson wouldn't be the first to get away with murder, should that specific circumstance haunt him next.
Gibson will not suffer any undue hardship because of his mega-bucks. His stature will not be diminished in my eyes because he lacked stature to begin with.

Gibson is no more popular now than he was prior to getting plastered and endangering the lives of others while driving under the influence of alcohol. This is just a small hiccup (pun intended) in his declining (relatively speaking) career.

IMHO, Mel Gibson's statements of insult about Jews while he was drunk was primarily due to his perception war now brewing between Israel and Serbia: The Israelis were the one's who started it, bombing Serbia in violent aerial attacks. Strange how the Israelis now want the U.S.A. call a 'cease-fire' now that the Serb started to get an upper hand on the fighting and push the Israelis back a bit...Loll.

Mel was drunk and induldging in too much telivision, I assume. Kissing up tothe media now does not negatethe fact that "Somebody" violated the other first--Mel just called a spade a spade...But, despite his 'clouded and highly suspect inhibitions' due to his drunkenness, he couldn't...lol...just mumble it under his breath.

I still LOVE Mel Gibson. He's just being human; He's no Passion of Christ...just human....(o:
