I just bought a new slow cooker (crockpot) a few months ago it is stoneware and the directions say not to put it in the oven.

Stoneware is not the same as Pyrex which is oven safe. Pyrex is cheap. I suggest investing in some Pyrex ovenware. An added advantage is that you can freeze leftovers in the same dish, and Pyrex can go from freezer to oven without danger of breaking.

if you have the oven on very low and put the crock pot in to get gradually warm this might worb but you might as well put it back in the crockpot as long as it will take- if you put the cold crock into a hot oven it will crack.

I have seen a new kind of crockpot out there where the crock can be put in the fridge , freezer, oven and stovetop- it was about $60.00 - I will be getting one :)

I wouldn't. You could break the liner and ruin your crock pot. You are better off putting the food in a baking pan or on a cookie sheet.

Gosh, I don't know. Turn the liner over and see if it says oven proof.

I wouldn't. Either heat back up in the crock pot or take it out and put in in the microwave on a plate.

You probably could on lowest setting if you were desperate for something to use, but I wouldn't recommend it. It is very apt to crack. You can't regulate the temperature to it like the unit can, and they will crack if they are overheated. Be careful if you must use it!!
