My guess would be the depo shot is probably what caused the cyst to begin with. A depo shot prevents the egg from fertilizing and dropping, therefore has caused the tissue to form around the egg. (Hence, a cyst.) I do not believe in the depo shot, since your body is prevented from functioning naturally. Many women also have their period each day until the shot wares off, which is what happened in my case the first and only time I used this method for birth control.

Yes, the depo shot made my cyst go away but beware, most people gain weight on the shot. I gained 30 lbs but lost it when I went off the shot. Now I'm on birth control pills. No cyst and no weight gain either.

I don't have specific information on the shot, as I don't know anyone who has used it. However, most types of birth control are very good for cysts. She should ask her doctor if the shot is one of the ones that help, as it works in a different way than most birth control. If it is pumping the same types of hormones into her system that other birth control medications do, then yes, it will help.

i've had cysts.. they're painful.. not sure what the shot has to do with it.. i've been on depo for 3 years now, and do NOT miss having periods at all.

Depo is horrible! i never had cysts until I went onto that sh*t...It should be taken off the market! i bleed for 3 months straight have been off it for 4 years and still have side effects..
