I have watch Donnie Darko many times and each time I watch it I seem to find something else that I missed a time before. I think that the aspect of time travel is that Donnie had to set the events into motion to make things better for the people in his life. He brought up the idea that he was traveling within God's channel. So with that I think that it was a lesson to everyone that was close to Donnie. The reason I say this is because of how it ended with everyone waking from the dream crying or confused. Each person in the movie had a n epiphany that they needed to make changes in their lives or else. Donnie was the maurder that died for their collective good. Donnie also had the choice to either follow the path and save them or refuse and let them die or face the consequences of their actions at least.

It's my favorite movie, I absolutely love it. I figured it out, and then watched it again so that I could take it all in knowing the point.

I have seen it but no, I haven't really figured it out. I don't know if I just didn't get it or if I didn't put enough effort into figuring it out, but it was one weird film.
