I am a gym-goer, about 4-5 times a week. During this time I do some moderate to heavy cardio. If I am trying to conceive, should I stop? I know when you are pregnant you shouldn't elevate your heart rate too high...How about when you are TTC or haven't found out yet b/c its too early to test?

I am ttc too and have been told that I can continue exercising as I normally do and just shouldn't overdo it, especially if there's a possiblity I could be pregnant (after ovulation and too early to test). I go to the gym 3-4 times a week and also do moderate cardio and walk or run at least five days a week and have been told this is fine. I've also been told when you're pregnant, it's okay to keep up with what you're been doing (continuing to go to the gym 4 days a week if that's what you were doing before pregnancy).

The general rule for pregnancy is that you shouldn't attempt more strenuous activities than you are used to but unless there is a particular cause for concern, you can keep up most of what your body is accustomed to. Keeping healthy while you're trying to conceive is important. If you're concerned about doing too much before you know you're pregnant, maybe cut out the high impact aerobics and transition to more medium to light impact stuff. You can get just a good a workout and it's a little easier on your body anyway.

I don't think it would interfere with conception, but it might make it harder for the conception to continue on (most don't anyway).

I don't think the number of workouts per week is the issue, the intensity might be. I don't think its a heart rate issue, its a heat issue. I believe its more of a concern later on - the foetus has no way of cooling off. Keep up the exercise frequency, maybe go a little easier on intensity.

I have heard that it is okay to exercise while trying to concieve as long as you have been exercising for a while.
