About this Poem

Where he goes he leaves a trail.
When he goes where he shouldn't be,
His trail is there for all to see.

Our life is like the little snail,
Where we go we leave a trail.
The things we do and the things we say,
Are the trail we leave from day to day.

They belong to the phylum Molluska, class gastropoda, they are related to all mussels and clams. Their primary food is plant materials both dead or alive, this is dependant on the species.

Someone else already answers what class they are in.

As for food, I currently have three grown apple or "mystery" snails (a gold, a black, and a blue) as well as 30+ baby snails. The ones that I have in with my goldfish and bettas mostly eat the leftover food and plant growth in my tanks, however they also get sinking shrimp and/or algae pellets. I have a group of them waiting for a new home in a smaller tank which only get pellets.

They can also eat a number of plants and vegetables, as well as dead fish or other creatures.

Most snails are asexual, however the main ones sold for aquariums (the ones I have) are not. You need a male and a female for these ones (my babies are the offspring of my gold and my black snails) and they lay their eggs in a cluster right above the water line.

The are mollusks and they have a radula to eat with which is equivalent to like a rototiller blade for their mouth. Anything that can be scraped up or scraped on is far game for a snail.
