Over the past 3 years I have destroyed lots of coloured hand towels. Is it the liquid hand soap I'm using ,or has anyone else got this problem ? Every time I buy nice new towels ,within 24 hours they have lost some colour. It does not happen to the bath towels .

It's a mystery. I hesitate to suggest the obvious but since the problem has plagued you for three years consider this: How about going with very plush, thick white towels. Expensive spas use them for obvious reasons. They look pristine and can be kept that way by using bleach, softener, and scented sprays and of course they go with any decor.

I have the same problem. The colors in my master bath are olive green and tan. When ever I use a olive green hand towel it will get spots that look as though I have gotten bleach on it. I finally figured my problem out. It was my contact solution getting on the towel along with my husbands face wash. He uses Proactiv. Now we are more careful around the green towels.

It happens to a lot of my towels, too. It's probably caused by different products you're using, they have agents in them that causes bleaching in fabrics. The only thing I can think of to lessen the extent of the bleaching is to thoroughly wash any products from your hands before drying them.

Use a colorfast detergent. I'd like to suggest cold
water, but since they are towels used to dry
human bodies, hot water is necessary.

Is the whole towel fading or just spots?

You need to wash the towels in cold water with just a little white vinegar to set the color before use.

It's toothpaste! Tell your kids and husband to rinse their faces completely before drying off with a towel. Just one exposure will leave a bleach mark.

Could be the facewash you're using. Benzoyl peroxide causes bleaching on clothes and towels.

Samething, I'm not sure if it's the handsoap or that it's used more often. Almost make you wanna just buy white towels and be done!!
