The other day I went school shopping, blah blah, Yeah and she said I wasn't getting anything else until two weeks, will she decreased the time until next week, blah blah again. Well yesterday I went to the mall with my bestfriend and we were driven up to Atlanta..and I spent like $3,000 on my credit card which was not taken away before..or whatever, and my mom is tripping out like I've never spent that before. And I thought by not taking my credit card away before, she was telling me secretly to disobey my dad and go shopping! I just don't get it, she's being a bad mom! I just don't understand her sometimes!

I'm going to be like depressed

I can understand why you were confused. Maybe you could just tell her that you misunderstood her signals and apologize. In my experience, being the first one to apologize (even if you are so mad at the other person) ALWAYS makes the other person calm and agreeable. She'll probably be so impressed by it that she won't make you return anything :o)

Check this out. You obviously have no idea what money is. You evidently come from an affluent family which has failed to teach you the value of money and has not disciplined you to fear them and consequences. You should honestly thank god for parents who give you things you dont need but want. Those kids in downtown atlanta waiting for the bus you drove by on your way to go shopping dont have the ability to buy a sandwich, basic food, and you are blowing money on clothes, 3000 dollars. Your credit card is not a liscense to spend. Look, I am not hating on you. When I lived in Russia as a child, we had to wait in line for a loaf of bread off the back of a truck on wednesday. The next day, the milk truck came, then the eggs, then the meat, and so on. If you didnt save what you had, you didnt get any till next week. That was life. Im not telling you this to give you a history lesson. But I want to give you perspective and realize that being responsible with money is important because one day, god forbid, you might not have it. So appreciate your life and your parents for giving it to you. You are very fortunate, be grateful and thankful. Thats all. Sorry its so long.

Tell me something, how would you feel if someone ran up $3,000 on your credit card and you had to pay it back? You don't seem to realize something, SOMEONE has to pay it back, and from what I can formulate, you're a minor, which means your parents are responsible for your actions.

If you haven't noticed, the economy is not doing well, and interest rates are going up. Now to a youngster like you that may not mean much, but to we adults, an increase in interest rates means an increase in the amount of the monthly payments your parents have to make.

Imagine if you will, you have a job, say at Wal-Mart and you make $400 a month. You have a car and such, so you know that you have a budget that has to pay for your routine car maintenance and gas, etc. Then you budget in money for movies and food when you go out with your friends. So, when you work out your complete budget, let's say of the $400 you have a month, your expenses for your car, clothes, entertainment comes to $325. You have $75 left over. But, let's say a sibling of yours uses your credit card and when the bill comes in, it's $3000 and the minimum payment is $120. That's $45 over what your pay is for the month. How are you going to pay it? That means, you either cut back on your entertainment, so the money you save from that can go to pay the minimum payment due, or you drive less, so you spend less on gas and that money can go towards the payment. Or you don't make the payment and now you have a negative mark on your credit, which means it's going to cost you more in the future.

Do you see what I'm getting at. Your mom now has to pay that off. Sure, you did it before, but with the economy getting worse and interest rates going up, your parents may be feeling the pinch of a tighter economic situation. If your parents have bought a home recently and they bought in on an ARM (Adjustable Rate Mortgage), their monthly mortgage payment has probably gone up, and not by a few bucks. There is one situation where 1 persons mortgage increased by $1000 per month.

You young lady have just put your parents into a position to which they may have to choose which payment they're going to not make. Do they not make the house payment, or the car payment? Or even better, why don't they make the house payment and car payment and just buy Oodles of Noodles for you and them to eat for the next month so they can pay your credit card bill.

What you need to do is grow up. I have a challenge for you, you make the payments on that $3000 credit card bill and see how well you can handle it. I'll bet you 10 to 1 that within a short time, you'll be complaining how hard it is. Do you know that at current interest rates, if you just made JUST the minimum payment on that $3000 charge, it would take you about 15 YEARS to pay it off?

One day, you'll be an adult and you will be responsbile for those bills and then you will know first hand how hard you have to work to make sure your bills get paid. It's not fun and games young lady when you are responsible and have to make those payments.

If I were your mom, I would be writing a question on Yahoo Answers that goes like this:
"Why is my daughter being so mean to me".
The other day she went out and racked up $3,000 on her credit card, which, of course, her father and I will have to pay, despite the fact that I told her not to do that. Does this ungrateful brat not understand the value of money? Does she not realize that $3,000 would be enough money to pay for an entire year at a community college? Or, if that money were given to someone who had nothing at all in this world, would be enough to make a radical difference in their life? And she spends it like it's lunch money!!!! I just don't understand her sometimes.

I'm going to be like depressed.

You obviously have no concept of money at all...which is your mother's fault for giving you a credit card in the first place. I don't know where you live or what you're parents do for a living, but to most people $3000 is a lot of money especially if you didn't have permission to spend it...Instead of being grounded you should work in a soup kitchen or at a homeless shelter...

Oh my god. You're lucky you even have a credit card, and with that much money on it! I have to pay for all my school clothes myself. Yeah, every single item of clothing I have to pay for myself. Sorry, but at first glance you sound sort of like a spoiled brat. If you went school shopping, then spent $3,000 on clothes again you've got enough clothes, honey!

wow i could never, ever get away with spending that much money on a credit card. do your parents pay for that credit card? if they do, no wonder they're mad!
if you really want to find out how your mom is feeling about this and what she's thinking, just talk to her. as in, just have a calm, honest discussion about it, and tell her that you felt like it was ok for you to spend money since she never took the card away. don't get all defensive with her and have an all-out argument though...that won't get you anywhere.

ok? Your think your mom is bad because she is not giving you money? Do you know how hard it is to work your *** off just so your daughter could have bags and stuff? If you complain too much then you should get a job and feel what it feels like working your *** off for something you want and not just asking your parents for money. $3,000 bucks? you think she just picks it up from the floor? You live in Laguna Beach don't ya?
