should i take a two month old on a plane, the flight is only an hour long. the catch is she has not had her immunizations yet. shes gettin them next week. i tried rescheduling the appointment but they werent able to. im scared of her getting sick since an airplane is such an enclosed place really with no proper ventillation. should i still take her with me?

babies now get their shots at two months instead of getting vaccinations before they are discharged from the hospital

i was told that after the first round of shots it would be okay. i didnt end up making that trip when he was 2 months old but did about a month later and it was the easiest plane ride ever at 4 plus hours. they sleep most of the time and white noise from plane is helpful too. just make sure to have the baby breast/bottle feed on take off and landing to help ease pressure in ears. my friend takes her baby on 6 hour drive at least once a month to visit parents and says it is usually smooth sailing except to stop and feed.

After my husband left for Iraq a month after I had my son, I went home. Shots don't protect you from general illnesses and plus, if you breastfeed, the baby still has your immunities. There's nothing wrong with taking a baby on a plane as long as he doesn't have a compromised immune system. Oh, btw, make sure baby has something to suck on when lifting off and landing. As far as ppl complaining about baby crying, they obviously have never had kids. Most people understand that sh# $ happens and babies DO cry sometimes. HTH

It would be extremely unlikely that someone has polio on the airplane. A baby may be exposed to colds and other minor diseases, but not the things that she will be vaccinated against anyway. So it's likely that she'll be safer before vaccination than after (when her immune system is busy assimilating those and has less available to the minor illnesses she will be exposed to).

No, bad idea. A plane contains 200 or so people, then you have to go through the airport, the chance that someone in that huge amount of people has a disease is straggering, your baby WILL get sick. Not to mention, your crying baby will really anoy everyone around you; why would you want to take it with you anyway?

Being a mom, Do what YOU think is best for her!
maybe if you can't reschedule for her, see if you can reschedule your flight, if not and you have to take her with you, maybe you could KEEP her covered with a nice soft blanket, not killing her but you know what i mean, since the trip is only an hour!

None of my children are vaccinated and I have traveled extensively with them from the time they were born. I don't believe in the 'germ theory'. Just because you are exposed to some germ doesn't mean you will get sick. If you are breastfeeding your baby will also be getting antibodies and good stuff from your milk.
You can't live in a bubble.

i'm having my second and at two months old i wouldnt even consider taking my baby on a trip anywhere... they are just getting use to the world and then you want to throw a plane at a fast speed that high in the sky on top of what they already have to get use to. no not me, not that young, maybe a trip in a few months but not by plane....

It's absolutely fine. Babies have their mother's antibodies in their system until 6 months of age. Therefore, as long as you have been vaccinated, she is protected for the first six months of life. There is no reason not to take her. Promise.

NO! Don't take your kid. One, it will probably get sick. Two, it will annoy everyone on the plane who has to listen to it whine. If it's just an hour flight, DRIVE ALREADY.
