I feel that Sharia Law needs to move forward with the times and there is no demonstrable reason why it doesn't. Yet, it does seem to me that anyone who loudly proclaims that the country they are living in should respect their religious beliefs and standards, should be prepared to be punished by the standards of their religion!

Why should he? People are usually punished by the rules of the state in which they commit the crime.

If a Texan committed murder in the UK he could only get life imprisonment as we dont have the death penalty.

So

Would a Texan / muslim if he were convicted in court in the UK of murder would he be prepared to accept a American (Texan) penalty? Would you expect him to?

Come on its not just one faith that subscribes to cruel and unusual punishments.

I believe that over british soil the punishment is always under british jurisdiction so its upto the court unless the person in question is not a citizen. Although I may be wrong.
