Okay I'm mainly a Liberal supporter and I hold no qualms to those who are conservatives but what Bush has done this time has just upset me to the core. Bush has done alot of stupid things but this time he's basically said F--ck you America and not to mention a big "ha ha" to congress. Here's what I'm talking about. There's always been a debate about stem cell research, but a bill to put more funding into Stem Cell Research and it passed through both the houses, basically congress said yes, both Republican's and Democrats alike. and it had the support of 2/3's of the American people, and what does Bush do, he goes and Vetos it flat out Vetos not a pocket Veto "hey put that at the bottom I've got gay marriage to deal with" but "F--ck no!" I'm sorry if I've offended anyone but that is blantenly messed up in more than one way; Bush is losing support from the american people, I know he's the president and he can do what he wants but you want people to like you, not hate you. opinions?

He vetoed the bill creating new funding for embryonic stem-cell research. Not all stem-cell research. The government does provide funding for embryonic stem-cell lines that were created before a certain date (2001?) And why is it the governments job to fund medical research? If there was any miracle to come out of this pharmaceutical companies would be tripping over themselves to research this. Pres. Bush made his position on stem-cell research quite clear early on. So this big FU you think he is doing to the USA and the rest of the world is just spin made him to look bad and gobbled up by people unwilling to learn what is actually taking place.

Three pionts:
1. He is the first president to ever fund stem cell research to the tune of 250 million dollars.
2. 85 % of stem cell research happening right now comes directly from that funding.
3. There is no ban on stem cell research.
Bush said "As a result of private research, more than 60 genetically diverse stem cell lines already exist. They were created from embryos that have already been destroyed, and they have the ability to regenerate themselves indefinitely, creating ongoing opportunities for research. I have concluded that we should allow federal funds to be used for research on these existing stem cell lines, where the life and death decision has already been made.
Leading scientists tell me research on these 60 lines has great promise that could lead to breakthrough therapies and cures. This allows us to explore the promise and potential of stem cell research without crossing a fundamental moral line, by providing taxpayer funding that would sanction or encourage further destruction of human embryos that have at least the potential for life.
I also believe that great scientific progress can be made through aggressive federal funding of research on umbilical cord placenta, adult and animal stem cells which do not involve the same moral dilemma. This year, your government will spend $250 million on this important research. "

Okay, once again, we prove that liberals are morons...
That is not what has happened, dip$hit. He vetoed a law that said that that United States government would not PAY for research for DRUG COMPANIES who do studies into stem-cell research. (Hence, drug companies make millions off of government research...)
You want to spend your own money, fine. Research will NOT be funded by the National Institutes of Health.
Why don't you grow up and learn something for once, idiot?
PS Did I mention you are about as educated as my dog? Moron.

bush has put more money in stem cell research than any president so far. government is not supposed to fund all kinds of this stuff anyhow. if it is the miracle cure that it is touted to be, dont you think private investors would be banging down the doors of drug firms to invest?
though i do agree that anything that helps with illness and such should be fully investigated, there is enough private money out there for such research.

One, Bush doesn't understand science. It baffles and confuses him. To him, science is more like one 'o dem craaazy non-Jesus cults or something.
I alluded to the second reason above. Can you guess?
Jesus. Yep Jesus freaks like him and his core constituency are adamant about their right to life cause. Well right to life for fetuses anyhow. Cause, there are lots and lots of people they are a OK with killing- think Arabs, prisoners well heck anybody not holding a bible.
He's gotta stand up and move that core to the polls or his party is doomed. I think a lot of those repub legislators were frontin' knowing that Georgy Porgy was going to use his ONLY veto to help them out for the mid-terms.
That's my two cents anyways

He can send thousands of young people to their senseless deaths, but the stem cells haunt his dreams.
Stockpicker, you are a typical neo-con. Spout Sean Hannaty as "truth" and then ridicule anyone who disagrees with you with the arrogance that can only be found by that kind of lock-step idiocy. You don't realize that a christian burkha is still a burkha.
