This depends on how many people are in your family, and how long the food will last.
I think $50 is enough to feed one person for one week, unless they wanted luxury food items or brand names.
I'd say that if the groceries were for a family of four or less that it was a little too over priced.

A little. I usually spend about $100, maybe a little more. But not $550.

Not if you're buying for 6 months! Of course, I'm single, that's my grocery bill for like 2 years!

Depends on how many people you are buying for. I spend about $500/month (family of 3) but that includes stuff like laundry detergent, light bulbs, cat food, vitamins, etc.

That depends. Is that for a family of 8 for a whole month? If so, than that's about right.

If it's for a big family, no, but if it's for one person or a small family(up to about 5 people) than yes.

That depends on how many people you are feeding, and for how long.
A family of four could live on that much for a month!

Not at all - that sounds rather low for a family of seven actually.
