First of all, she was appointed by GW Bush because she is black/African American. She had no particular credentials and in fact at the time of her appointment was embarrassingly ignorant on the subject of Canada, not to mention other countries as well. (Us & Cda are big trading partners.) Therefore, she is powerful not because of qualifications, but because she wears the title of Secretary of State. During calamities, she has been known to go shopping at expensive shops.

She's a Bush puppet. What else? Powell was forced to lie to the UN Security Council for Bush. After that, he retired. She was a fool to let Bush bring her down (and he will). Sadly.

going by the way she has handled the current middle east crisis or indeed the previous ones, i hardly think she's worth talking about. as a non USA person i find her remarks about the birth pangs of pregnancy in the middle east crap distasteful. somebody hit the nail on the head when they named her the 'midwife from hell' for her total lack of diplomacy.
