How can I tell my Landlord (who lives next door) that I can not have the yard work done when I am working?
I work from a home office doing insurance sales for Doctors. They know I work from home but keep coming over with the lawnmower, leaf blower and misc. noise making machines when I am trying to work. It is very disruptive and I can not work my best when they are doing this. It is costing me money. I know they have to do it sometime but I hate looking out my window and there they are. I can not even sit in my pajamas to work I feel like I have to be up and dressed. They have been over doing stuff 4 days this week. They were even up stomping on the roof to get the avacados off. Please advise how to deal with them.

(1) Tell him,(them the problem. Then ask when they will be doing yard work so you can schedule around that time and do it.

(2) Ask to be released from your lease for the following reasons, list the reasons write it down and then give it to them or better email it to them along with a personal visit to explain. Keep a copy of the email in case.

(3) Ask if they will work with you .be honest and try to work it out . Then document everything!!!!

(4) Get a good set of head phones plug them in and turn up the volume.

Good luck. ;-)

I agree that this can't be all day, every day. Perhaps you could tell your landlord your situation with telephone calls, tele-conferences and such. Perhaps he'll indicate when he is most likely to work in the yard.
As far as having to get dressed, close the curtains. Your landlord has a problem if he needs to see you every day inside your home.
Like you said, this is costing you money. Perhaps if you indicate it's about to cost him a tenant, he will be more mindful of his timing. It's just possible it's never occured to him you have a life!

To be quite honest, this is your issue and not theirs.

How many hours a day of lawn mowing and leaf blowing could they possibly be doing? 1 or 2 hours? Try taking your lunch break when they show up if it is that disruptive.

You could call your landlord and explain the situation and ask him if he could have it all done first thing in the morning so you have the rest of the day to work in peace.

You can consider telling them exactly this, if you haven't done so.
Arrange for times that you can have such noise, and ask them to stick with it, like after 3 pm.

If the owner is not willing to accomodate your work-at-home situation, you must move. Put it in writing to your landlord, and ask that the noise agreement be added to your lease as a condition, or you will move at the end of your lease.

Good luck.
