I saw an article referring to this question in a Toronto newspaper magazine. It said that 3 out of 4 women would prefer a plasma TV rather than a diamond necklace.
For me, I would rather have the Plasma TV. I don't have many chances to wear the necklace anyway; I NEED a new TV (mine is over 8 years old - LOL). I can share the TV with my family, too. Besides, I will use the TV every single day, instead of only one occasion in 3 years when I need the necklace

Diamond necklace. I'd sell it in a couple of years and buy shares.

although i'd prefer the plasma tv, if you're thinking what's more practical in the long run, i'd say the diamond necklace. it will never devalue and you can always pawn it or sell it on ebay when you get bored or need money and buy a plasma tv later on when their value goes down.
