I would be less offended by seeing a natural breast feeding scene then I would half the crap on television these days. I don't even own cable and I have to turn the t.v. off when my kids are watching it. Why is it that we have to cover our child but homosexual public affection is perfectly acceptable?

Anything fully legal to do in public is okay to show on television. Almost all states have breastfeeding-in-public laws, and the rest of them don't have laws against it, they just don't specifically protect the accidental showing of nipple in the case of breastfeeding. In a case where the nipple isn't shown, the baby's head covers a lot more than some bikinis, so there shouldn't be any problems with "indecency."
I think it's sick that it even comes up as a question. Note that it's perfectly acceptable to show breastfeeding PRIMITIVE, BLACK babies on public television shows about tribes in Africa... the only "controversy" is about whether it's acceptable to show white, middle-class Americans feeding their babies naturally.

As a breastfeeding parent, I don't think there is anything at all wrong with it in public as long as it's discreet -- and that goes for television, magazines and movies. When I have to feed my son in public, I try to go to a restroom or use a blanket to cover us up. It's a natural and beautiful thing. Unfortunately, society today has turned breasts into a sexual object -- WELL THEY'RE NOT!!! They're functional. Women and men each have ONE sexual area. I wish people would get over it. We would not exist today as a race if there weren't such a thing as breastfeeding. Formula has only been in exsistence for like 50 years.....breastfeeding is how we keep our children alive. I feel very strongly about this topic because it's close to my heart right now.

Since I breastfed my two children, I see nothing wrong with breastfeeding either on tv or in public. However, I do think that it should be done modestly.

i think breastfeeding is a wonderful thing. i breastfed my two kids for the first two weeks of their life. i think it should be shown on TV to let everyone know its natural and healthy for the kids. their is nothing sick about it and people should be mature and go on

I don't see why they wouldn't show a woman nurturing their child on television. As long as it's done tastefully. They show and say much more on television now anyway. Have you seen "Nip/Tuck or "It's always Sunny in Philadelphia"

they show bare a$$es on TV, for crying out loud! what's the big deal with a woman breast-feeding? most women cover themselves anyway. i don't remember my mother or aunt with their boob just out for all to see when they nursed. the baby's head is pretty much in the way, anyway. i think it's ridiculous that this would be an issue.
