I was just told that the baby (boy) had been really low this whole pregnancy, and that may be some of the cause for the vaginal pain. It has looked like I had already dropped just about my whole pregnancy, but is sharp vaginal pain really ok? Its almost like he is kicking my cervix and hurts a lot. I have also started have braxton hicks the past month. The doctors have already checked my cervix and it seems solid. (they check it once a week now) Anyone have any advise other than "do what your doctor says"?

This is perfectly normal. I had the same horrible pains with my last pregnancy. There isnt much you can do except wait for that baby to come out, sorry. Hang in there and good luck.

I'm 38 weeks pregnant and I have had the same problem throughout my pregnancy. I have carried my baby (my first, a son) extremely low the whole time. Often when he moved or kicked, even if it was so light I couldn't feel the actual blows, it would cause vaginal pain that caused me to double over. Once he dropped, it was worse. Sometimes, since his head is already engaged, when he turns his head, I can't walk the pain is so strong.

Fortunately, I've found something that helps. Whatever activity you are engaging in when the pain starts needs to be changed if possible until the pain goes away. Say you're standing doing dishes. Then you need to sit or lay down and prop your feet up. If you're laying down or sitting, stand up and take a short, brisk walk. Changing your movement causes the baby to readjust his position and knock off the movements that cause you pain.

Another thing I've found that helps is to urinate everytime you feel the slightest urge. It's a pain in the butt, but it gives baby more room to move, and keeps him from knocking into your sides as much.

Also, make sure you get plenty of rest. A lot of times the pain is intensified when you don't get enough rest (not just sleep, but actual relaxation time) or try to do too much.

As for the Braxton-Hicks, they are completely normal. It's just nature's way of preparing your for the real thing.

I know you didn't want to hear, "Do what your doctor says," but in this case your doctor knows more than any of us ever could. If you truly think you've been given a misdiagnosis, bring it up and push your doctor to reevaluate the situation. Should she prove unwilling to do so, it's time you got a second opinion or a new doctor.

I hope I could help a little bit.

Congratulations and good luck!

your pain is caused by the position of the baby in your uterus. I was pregnant with twins one positioned way up almost under my ribs and one way down close to the birth canal. I experienced a lot of pain in my last 2 months (I actually carried them 41 weeks - amazing for twins). The pain is due to the fact that the baby is growing and moving more in the last few weeks getting ready for birth. Your uterus is contracting and because he is so low the pain is very direct. My doctor put me on a strict diet - anything that would cause excess water gain, gas or bloating was forbidden. he also recommended that I take a pillow and place it under my belly to help lift it up and reduce the pressure - it helped when I was sitting as well as laying down. You can also buy a belt that will help lift the stomach - try your local maternity store. Practice your breathing exercises when those pains start - it can help.

hope you find some kind of comfort!

OK your almost there so hold tight. I don't know if your doctor told you this but A good reason for the pain is because your body is preparing it self for labor, no matter what stage you are your body slowly gets it self ready. and because you are becoming so big and the baby is growing larger every day there is not a lot of room inside you for it to stretch.Your cervix is stretching it self and causes pain. I found it soothing to lean into the pain (like lean forward) and of course scents you are having pain there is aways that thought that you could go into premature labor (but don't be alarmed) so take it easy, lay on your couch in front of the TV and relax. that helps a great deal. good luck.

Im only 27 weeks, but i've read in pregnancy books that some of the veins in that area tend to get swollen and that can also put pressure on your "stuff" and cause a lot of pain. just hang in there! You're almost done :-)

I am 30 weeks and I'm carrying low too. I've had weird twinges and pains every once in a while too. Fortunately, there's nothing wrong. Like the other answerer said, you just have to wait it out a little longer.

I had a really low baby. It hurt to walk and do anything. I had shooting pains in my vagina towards the end. I believe that in what to expect when expecting there is something about it. I was assured that it was normal. If this is your fist, believe it or not, you will probably drop more. I thought if mine dropped any further she would fall out. lol. So I know your pain. Literally.

I can't help you with alleviating the pain. I have the same problems. It's definitely caused by the baby. Good luck.
