Lets see, repuglican majority in the senate, it came as no surprise to me as they are the party of the wealthy and they know that passing the minimum wage would piss off their base just before an election. Not suprised at all.

I also agree they prolly make too much money but as far as minimum wage goes i would agree with them. When they raise minimum wage lets say from 6.50 to 7.50 it benefits those making 6.50 and that seems great right? Problem is, that raise in minimum wage sparks the raise in price of other things like milk, bread, things everyone needs. Now the person who got the raise is ok but what about the person who was already making 7.50 and has to deal with rising cost and no extra income.

You're an idiot.
If you work for minimum wage, regardless of what it is, you have obviously made some pretty poor decisions in your life. The only time I made Minimum wage was at 16 years old for 3 months. Get over it, or get a new job.

To the Oracle - prices have continued to soar higher, minimum wage has not. The point is a to where an average under-educated family cannot support themselves, which in turn leads to an increase in crime, perhaps it's you who need to read a book!

I'm not surprised by this. They don't want to pay the "help" too much. If everyone were able to afford to buy the same things, there would not be "the envy syndrome". Now come on, if you were rich, would you like to sunbathe on an exclusive beach somewhere with a middle class person? What would people think?

I'm glad they denied the minimum wage increase, because it wasn't a good idea. But I also think less of them for taking a pay raise.

Who makes the minimum wage? I am not sure it is relevant anymore. Even McDonald's pays 2 or 3 dollars above it now.

Increasing the minimum wage doesn't help unless prices stay in line--which they often don't. It's called inflation, my friend. Go read an economics book.
