State Communism is very efficient when it comes to operations and policy implementation. The Soviet Union had a system where orders came from the top and went to the bottom. There was no "checks and balances" in the former Soviet States, so the govt could get quick results with no opposition. State Communism has failed, this is only one type of communism.

People who hate communism are usually irrational and brought up in an environment of fear. Theoretically communism is sound, when applied forcefully such as the former USSR or China, results can be disastrous. Capitalism isn't perfect by any means and market failure occurs often throughout the world.

Because it is based on the flawed premise that humans are capable of being perfect little machines. It denies human nature, for one because everybody is NOT the same. Look around you. People have different priorities, different wants, different needs, different levels of motivation, addictions, obsessions, manias, phobias, etc all of which mean that they are not equal.

Human nature never will support a system where the lazy and indolent receive as much as the industrious and hard-working. This is because it requires elimination of the 'cult of the indivitual' - elimination of the self. It has failed miserably at every level it was tried.

The pilgrims nearly died out because they tried collectivism. People got tired of carrying the load for the lazy ones, and it fell apart and they nearly starved.

If it was good in practice, why have there been no successful collectivist communities? Many were started - all failed.

The problem with communism is there is no creativity in it. especially totalitarianism thats not good at all. I think free enterprise is best but we have a problem with letting the corps get to powerful almost like they are citizens. What we need is a free society that allows creativity and fairness for all not subsidies and a society not built on hand outs. There has to be a system that allows small business to flourish and stop all the big money sudsidies flowing to the big corps which gives them a unfair advantage.

All communism does is spread out the misery equally.Under a communist economic system,no one has any incentive to do better.I believe William Bradford tried a communist type system during colonial times, and found out that it didn't work ,because some people were lazy, while others worked like a dog,so he then allotted parcels of land to each family to work themselves, production skyrocketed, paving the road to a free market that monetarily rewarded hard work and didn't look favorably upon slackers.

That's what people would LIKE to think about communism. In reality, communist regimes ALWAYS had an upper class of elite, mostly the people in government and their cronies. Their claims to have a "classless society" was BS.

Look at Castro - he was named by Forbes as one of the richest men in the world. He's worth about 2 billion bucks, if not more by now. Says Castro: "Communism been berry, berry good to me..."

What would be so great about a "classless society" anyway? I like the fact that there is something higher to attain to - it motivates me to work hard, save money, and achieve the good life. Of course, a lot of weenies in this country think that is a BAD thing to strive for. They can bite me.

O, and as a sidebar, Europe is disgustingly class-based. Don't let it's "socialism" fool you. In America, people ask you what YOU do for a living, and base their opinion of you on that. In Europe, people base their opinion on what your FATHER did for a living. The snobbishness of Europe is sickening.

Love, Jack

in theory, the communist state is supposed to be the most perfect society. star trek next generation is a perfect example of that.

but, since we lowly humans are in charge, it will always be corrupt. on the other hand, sweden is closest to this type of government and they certainly love it. they dont complain when they give 40% or so of their income to the government in taxes. we could never do that. sure sounds good, move to sweden, eh?!
