He is a pretty good kid, he just has trouble focusing on one activity. I want to give him something to do that doesn't require a lot of work for me but is a fun game for him. He is three years old. He loves cars and trucks and all other means of transportation.

How old the kids are matters with the level of excitment you can bring them happy and content... though am a man but I think I gat little knowledge about kids. One thing, is that, they need alot of attention,... and if you are the type that easily get tire you will never get 'em satisfied... So, you've got to learn a lot of lullaby if kids ages range 6month to 3years cos they loves lulls and poems so much, and from the age 4 above, if you a good story teller that will do sometimes for them, and never 4get to put aside some fun loving toys around them.

Don't 4get you much learn to know when they need your attention in any other areas.

Above all, you will know more better in the light of experiences, cos no matter what people advices, you will still have press further in one way or the other.

Good Luck

Sorry to say this but babysitting is a lot of work. Kids are a lot of work. But if you are looking for an easier day with him here's some ideas.

- find all of his cars and trucks and play with him. he'll do most of the playing you'll just have to throw in a "vroom vroom" here and there.

- get him a bunch of cardboard boxes and tell him to build a car/truck/tractor/ ect

- find a good transportation movie, Bob the Builder is good, lots of bulldozers and stuff

Those are just a few. Next time you're babysitting check out your surroundings and make up something out of the materials you have.

Sounds like a typical 3yr old boy! How about some puzzles?
They have easy ones (transportation ones) with big pieces.
Anything THOMAS related works well too, does he like to color or set up train tracks?

Also, play doh is good (but can get messy). If you are not in the heat wave, how about kicking around a soccer ball or baby golf outside? Is there a playground near by?

My son loves his cars, trucks & trains too. You can read some books together or go to the library if possible.

Be happy and content yourself.
There are many great things to do with a 3yr old.
They are so intuitive
Why don't you let him lead you in a game
It can be so much fun and rewarding
3yrs is a learning age for young enquiring minds
Remember if an activity bores you it is safe to say the child is bored too

LOL well i was a 3 year old preschool teacher before and let me tell you they can not stay content with one thing for along time. There attention span is real short, but what you can do since they love to get dirty and they like the feel of different things is get a giant piece of paper take out some washable paints and just let him go for it whatever he wants to do with the paint whether it gets all over his face whatever. You could also take him for walks and show him the stop lights. You can also throw on one of those kids cds and dance and sing with him.

I would say have him build something with some blocks and use the cars to knock them down. And show him the first time how "fun" it is and show him how to rebuild and do it again. Or take him outside or if there is a park nearby. If you can take him to a park then there are usually other kids there and they can entertain each other. Also, make sure if you do take him outside to play not to go out when it is too hot and bring snacks and drinks.

There are some videos for little kids that have a lot about cars and stuff like that. Maybe you could try helping him set up a race track or something for toy cars.

Well, once when I was babysitting, I got two wind-up toys and let them walk into each other. The the little boy, it seemed like they were fighting, so he was entertained by this a while.
If you don't have any toys like this, you can make up a story (using one toy as your character) and let him play along with his own character ( the story can be anything, a race, a fight...whatever the boy likes will keep him interested.)

Paper and crayons, let him draw for a bit... Play doh perhaps. Build something with him, this keeps kids occupied, whether you build a tower or a fort, or line the cars up... Good Luck!
