If they're tiny white raised dots, it's probably thrush. They're generally the size of a pencil dot, and they are often scattered throughout the inside of a baby's mouth. You need to see your doctor or pharmacist to get an antifungal medication to treat it, and you need to be treated at the same time (it is very contagious and spreads quickly via breastfeeding--and often even through just touching).
If its an elongated white line at the top of the gum, it could be a tooth working its way out. It could still take 2-3 months for it to actually appear, so it doesn't mean that she is about to get her first tooth.

It could be teeth but I think it is more likely thrush. It sounds more that way b/c you say behind her lip on the front of her gums not the top.

I would definately make an appointment with a Pedodontist (children's dentist). It's advised to have the first checkup at one year, so it's a good idea anyway. Be sure you are brushing the teeth with a child's toothbrush, morning and night. Little children can get abcesses and cavities, too. I have seen way too many babies with severe decay, caused by parents who don't brush the teeth. Kids can't properly brush until they are about 6 years old. It could be an infection, if it isn't a tooth coming in.

It could be a tooth but I would rule out a yeast infection first. Watch to see if more spots appear in other places in her mouth. Your pediatrician can give you a medication for it. Teeth usually make the gum look really red, irritated, and slightly swollen before you actually see white.

maybe teeth.. maybe thrush, My son had thrush a month or so ago, the dr. prescribed Nystatin, it worked worderfully. Just give it to the baby for a few days after the white is gone because it can go away and come back

it coul be, but it is most likely thrush. you need to take the baby into the docter right away. thrush is very painful when it gets out of hand. please, what ever you do, do not let your child put his or her fingers into his or her mouth and then into there diaper. thrush is in the same catagory as a yeast infection an athleats foot. just amagon that in your mouth. check and see if the white spots are hard if they are go bye some orajell but still take the baby in just incase.

Could be, might also be thrush, which is a yeast infection.. Nothing serious, don't worry. It is very common and your doctor can prescribe something for you.
