True conservative, I want to conserve and preserve this nation and its sovereignty. I cherish our freedoms and rights, our way of life. I do not want it eroded by illegal aliens or politicians.
I hope that wasn't mentioning the opposition.

Sorry, I can't. I am socially liberal and fiscally conservative. Therefore, I am a moderate.
The 2 terms have become so perverted that not many people fit the textbook definition of either anymore. Answerman, as usual, nailed the testbook liberal definition.
Conservatives are for smaller government, fiscal responsibility, and respect for the rule of law. Two of the hallmarks of the conservative movement is strong national defense and a "hands-off" foreign policy. Go figure...

I am conservative because I firmly believe in a smaller government and lower taxes. It has been proven time and again, from Kennedy to Reagan to Bush43, that lowering taxes raises the standard of living for everyone, all the while actually increasing the government coffers because more people work and pay into the system.
Long live Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan.
Peace be with David Stockman and Lawrence Kudrow.

I'm a liberal because I believe that the community is more important than the individual. For example, I am perfectly willing to give up a lot of my income in taxes so that people can have enough to eat, free health care, etc. I think that the only way this world can work is if we help each other.

I'm a mix of the two, depending on the issue. I can't really truly identify my political persuasion at this point in time... I generally lean more toward the conservative side of things, but not always.
I suppose my religious beliefs and convictions tend to influence my voting more than anything else.
That being said, I do not always vote Republican. I research the candidates and make my decision based on "the lesser of the two evils," which nowadays is increasingly hard to determine.

I'm conservative because I like a sense of order, and respect. The liberal left represents hatred, and chaos in this country that just does not make any sense at all.
The longer I see these boobs make idiots of themselves I realize that I am right and, the left is just trying to prove a negative. Who wouldn't like to live in a Utopian world but, the world we live in is not thats, why we have religion in the world.
Some day when we meet God, then we will have that Utopia. That is what we all want, It's just that some of us want it here in this world where it is impossible to exist, without the other.

I believe that political power should flow from the bottom up. In other words stronger local and state governments and smaller federal government.
When this nation was founded the function of the federal government was to oversee matters of inter-state commerce and to provide for the common defense to the extent necessary. Unfortunately it has grown to be an all encompassing authority rife with regulation, pork barrel projects, and overly ambitious social programs, all the while sucking the public dry through taxation in order to pay for themselves.
It is my opinion that we should eliminate the IRS in favor of a national sales tax (with exemptions for food and housing) and generally reduce the role of the federal government in our lives.
In the currently accepted vernacular "Liberals" want to keep the federal government's nose out of our personal lives and to protect our civil liberties. I heartily agree with those ideas.
In the currently accepted vernacular "Conservatives" believe in reduction of federal governmental restrictions particularly in the realm of commerce and generally support policies that are weighted towards taking personal responsibility for ones successes and failures. I heartily agree with those ideas.
So... does my ideal make me a liberal or a conservative in your view of the world?

Yes,
Liberalism is an ideology, philosophy, and political tradition that holds liberty as the primary political value.[1] Broadly speaking, liberalism seeks a society characterized by freedom of thought for individuals, limitations on power, especially of government and religion, the rule of law, the free exchange of ideas, a market economy that supports relatively free private enterprise, and a transparent system of government in which the rights of minorities are guaranteed. In modern society, liberals favour a liberal democracy with open and fair elections, where all citizens have equal rights by law and an equal opportunity to succeed[2]. Liberalism rejected many foundational assumptions which dominated most earlier theories of government, such as the Divine Right of Kings, hereditary status, and established religion. Fundamental human rights that all liberals support include the right to life, liberty, and property. In many countries, "modern" liberalism differs from classical liberalism by asserting that government provision of some minimal level of material well-being takes priority over freedom from taxation. Liberalism has its roots in the Western Enlightenment, but the term now encompasses a diversity of political thought, with adherents spanning a large part of the political spectrum, from left to right. In the context of economics, the term "liberalism" refers to economic liberalism, which is associated with the political ideology of liberalism itself.

I'm Conservative, i believe were created by God, we were meant to live free, i believe in capitalism. i believe lowering taxes brings in more revenue from increased spending. i believe all men were created to be free and equal not controlled by dictators. i believe in right to life. i think if you want to stop unwanted pregnancy's you make there be consequences for actions, take away welfare and abortions and the people will make better decisions about sex. if girls get pregnant from rape there should be stiffer penalty's for the raper, first time offense 5 years in jail, second offense castration and so on. conservatism is just plain common since for every situation

i am liberal because i believe that the government should protect the lower and middle class from exploitation by big business, it should protect our environment, provide health care for all citizens, provide a good public education for all children, promote civil liberties for every individual, and stay out of my personal life. i believe that our government should represent the individual not the corporate interest groups.
