how often do you shock your pool?

everytime I swim naked. The pool seems to be a bit modest.

It depends upon how much it is being used. In the recent hot weather, I had people in the pool all day long, so I would usually shock it once a week. When it's being used less often, I'll probably shock it every other week.

What's just as important, and will really help your chemicals out is a clean filter. I know that my water is getting just a tad cloudy, and I know it's because it has been almost two weeks since I cleaned out the filter. I have a paper filter, and every week or so I need to take the hose and spray all the accumulated dirt out of it...

With a clean filter, the chemicals work a lot better - and the water stays nice and clean. When I shock the pool, I usually do it at night, and let the filter run, so by morning the shock is well distributed and there is hardly any smell.

In Florida in the summer, we shock the pool once a week. It's a good idea to check your chlorine levels each week as well to make sure all your chemicals are in line. Too high or too low on anything will make it uncomfortable for swimming and/or give you a green pool.

Depends on where you live and how much sun and pollen gets into your pool.

I live in Texas and I shock weekly and never have a problem with too much chlorine.

Be sure and test your water regularly. Do you have a pool supply shop around you? Take them a water sample, they can help a LOT.

my pool guy shocks it once every 2 weeks i think its too much cause my eyes burn when i swim

i live in Oklahoma and i shock mine once a week sometime more if i have allot of people over after were done i will shock.

in the summer I do it every 2 weeks or if I have alot of people swim I will do it after were done swimming that day !

and nobody complains about eyes burning !!!!
