I work for a law office, and when I call the Syr PD for reports, I never have to prove my firm's interest in the case. If you have an atty, he or she should be able to get it without a problem. You could even make the initial call for them...get a report # and the cost for copying, then relay that to your attorney to get the report. (I think they'll do it by mail if a paid envelope is enclosed).

You cannot get a copy of a report where you were not the victim. If the report is instrumental for another court case that you're involved in, that work through your attorney to obtain a court order for the report.

I would go to the local PD in person and ask if its possible to obtain a copy of the report and let them know why, should be a matter of public and no problem,or in some cases a attorney needs to be the one to request .

Contact the Syracuse PD and ask for a copy. If they refuse, you may need to have the report subpoenaed.
