Common sense and responsibility are getting old.
We all need to start to look around and think for ourselves. Find your value and hold on to it. Don't try to tell others to use common sense or to realize their responsibility. These will not do anyone any good.
What we all need to do as a younger generation, we need to live UP our lives. We all have bad examples when it comes to common sense and responsibility. So just forget about it and start anew.
From now on, start from yourself. Let yourself realize what your responsibility is and use your common sense as often as you can.
More importantly is to keep in mind that we are all human, meaning we are not perfect. We slack off once a while. Thus, don't expect others to be perfect either. Don't judge other people. Everyone is doing the best they can.
As far as using common sense and realizing responsibility, start with yourself and commit to the act of responsibility and of using common sense. You can be an example (source of inspiration) to other people.
The question remain "Who will benefit from this committed act?" The answer is "Yourself".

Most people have no morals anymore and the love of money is the root of all evil. Millions of human beings walk around daily just searching for some reason to sue somebody. These morons act like they don't know that what the consequences are of walking on a wet floor or like you say spilling a hot cup of coffee. Everyone is just searching for the easy way out by ruining someone elses life or business. Now common sense used to be something that everyone possessed a little bit of but now I just don't know. Are people being born that stupid or is it just because they don't care? You ask such a good question. Maybe ones of these idiotic people will answer your question and we will finally know what they are thinking.

Yeah, it's pretty dumb. It's also ironic that you can't spell common sense, and you use a comma where there should not be one.
Also, the guy below me criticizes grammar, but he can't spell grammatical.
On a serious note, it is ridiculous. The idea of natural selection is here for a reason. If you're stupid enough to, say, climb on top of a house that's being built and you fall through because it only has a wooden frame, you deserve that which is coming. You put yourself in danger and anyone can see that. Therefore, stupid people deserve that which they receive.

There is no such thing as "Common Sense". It's a nice thought but it doesn't exist. If it did, then every-ones thought about anything would be the same. The people who "Think" there is such a thing as "Common sense" do so because they want everyone else to think like they do about a something as their close friends do. But the reality is mankind is full of Diverse Thinkers".
I'm so glad that common sense doesn't rule, as we would all be part of the "Flat Earth Society".
You can thank Attorneys for your example or any other ridiculous law suites.

Some people can be so mean (referring to the first person to answer this question). What happened to common courtesy is my question? I mean, "sense" can be confusing to spell because it is spelled different ways and I'm sure he/she put a comma where no comma should go a few times in his/her lifetime ;).
Anyway, to answer the question, I really don't know what happened to common sense. I guess it ain't so common anymore. People just live in their little "perfect" world and if anything goes wrong, no its couldn't possibly be their fault. But, suing has less to do with common sense but more to do with greed and trying to make a easy buck without having to work for it.

Mostly it is embarassment of what has happened. We are treated as children hell bent on doing the stupidest, idiotic things that we can think of so the government, doesn`t matter which country it is, think that they have to step in and save us from ourselves forgetting that it was us that put them there in the first place. In England we have coined a phrase that seems to suit us perfectly we now live in a nanny state where the government thinks that it has to folloe us round picking things up after us and wiping our behinds as well. Thats where rebellious behaviour comes from.

Common sense and responsibility went out with the spell check button. But I do agree with you. People are no longer held responsible for their own actions. Pretty soon schools won't be able to have playgrounds because they are getting to many law suits over skinned knees.

We can't set our laws and rules based on average intelligence, because the simple fact is there are dumb people out there. Do we want to let them get hurt? Of course not. Our rules and laws need to be set for everyone, even the dumb ones. It is simply our responsibility. Why? Because we don't want someone to get hurt just because their IQ is low, right?

It went out the window with prayer in schools. and being able to punish children. People are just ignorant, stopping that would definitely be miraculous
