It's not a medication per se, and there are many different types that have and are being used

- Testosterone, a male hormone that among other things, increases muscle mass

- HGH (Human Growth Hormone), improves muscle strength and slightly reduces body fat, helps maintain muscle mass and is more frequently being used for bodybuilding or athletic enhancement

- Anabolic Steriods, Steroids are a class of steroids that interact with androgen receptors to increase muscle and bone synthesis. There are natural and synthetic anabolic steroids. These are the "steroids" used by athletes to increase performance. There are more than 100 types and some of the most commonly abused are Anadrol, Oxandrin, Dianobol, Winstrol, Durabolin, Depo-Testosterone, and Equipoise.
